Grilled up some tandoori-style chicken breasts and some garlic naan bread. My wife whipped up some tasty peas and tomatoes to round it all out. Didn't get a pic while it was on the grill. Things were happening fast once the naan started going on. View attachment 254425
If you have some guests your looking to impress, try a fresh ham next time. Cook it just like a shoulder, doesn’t take quite as much time either.Tried my first picnic shoulder roast for pulled pork. I am pretty damn impressed at how it turned out. Next time will fill the smoker, didn’t want to waste too much if it didn’t turn out...

It doesn’t taste like a cured ham. You need fresh uncured, unsmoked.Interesting thought but I don’t like ham.

Tastes just like pork shoulder, but better and less time on the smoker.
Costs quite a bit more though.
Gfy.
Err, I mean, what's up, Nic? I was gonna wait till I had something rolling on the griddle before I took any pictures, but since you asked. View attachment 253423 View attachment 253422
Not having used it, I think it'd be nice if the grate section in the middle was maybe 2/3 as big as it is and the solid portion was larger. Maybe I'll feel differently once I use it. I figure I can set a cast iron skillet in the middle if I want more flat space.
It's more of an experiment than anything else. If I love it I'll keep it. If not, I paid about what the Arteflame costs by itself, so it shouldn't be too hard to liquidate the whole rig.
Get all you can at less than a buck a lb...I’ll have to call the butcher and see if he has those/ can get and how much.
A local grocer has the picnic shoulder for $.97/lb so going to buy a couple more of those for the freezer if nothing else.
I can’t remember what the fresh ham was, but it was a helleva lot more than that.I’ll have to call the butcher and see if he has those/ can get and how much.
