I tried cleaning up this 066 cylinder. Turned out pretty good other then the one spot.
The pic makes it look way worse then it is. Can't hardly feel any of it. I think i should just try sanding a little more.

Well i cant get the pics to load for some reason. Will make the post and retry pics in a bit.

Shouldn't feel anything at all when you're done, if that helps.

To rub your finger over you cant feel anything. If you scratch real hard with fingernail you can just barely feel that blob looking spot.

A small flashlight will illuminate any aluminum still present that's hard to feel.
Also make sure to chamfer the affected port edge as well for some aluminum hiding there.

Starting to look better bud, did tapatalk say you have reached you're maximum number of pictures for this month or something like that, it did that to me last night, I got pissed and erased it lol. Tapatalk doesn't even support some of the knife forums I'm on ,I mainly followed here and AS on it,so what's the point ?

There’s still transfer there. To right of ex port and likely elsewhere.

Use a little muriatic acid on a q-tip on the areas. See if they fizz or not.

Acid use isn’t as dangerous as one would think. Just gotta use PPE and common sense. If you see an area continually fizzing, you gotta assume there is a defect in the plating you don’t want undermined. Have a pre-made jug of neutralizing solution close by.

I use acid and sanding. When there is not much transfer left, the transfer can get polished and be missed with sanding alone. I go back and forth between the two until it’s all gone.

I almost paid for it myself but since it doesn't support some of my other forums I just couldn't do it.

FWIW you can use Easy-Off oven cleaner also just daub it on with a swab ,don't spray it .Stinks to high heavens and the fumes could burn your lungs so be careful ,use ribber gloves and ventilation .Don't forget to rinse it off with water .

So what causes all the aluminum transfer anyhow?
