I picked up a 1 lb donut of .130" Gator Magnum Twist/Round. That stuff wears like gang busters and the FS240R doesn't mind the big line.

Stihl .105 line , got a 10lb roll free from the company because the spool it's on broke during shipping and it wasn't marketable .

Tried the Echo .105 line , doesn't stand up as well .

I should add that I used the .105 with the FR 350 in my avatar , it's a great machine for clearing brush and the like .

Echo lines does cut well but doesn't last at all. Been meaning to soak some different lines and retry them.

Stihl X line is so far the best overall I have used.

Good stuff! I'm a believer. As slow as it wears I bet this 1 lb donut lasts 4x longer than the .095 I had been running.
Yeah, folks are usually real slow to try a different line, that is why I gave out samples. Once they tried it, they came back for more.

I need some 0.130 line. I really like the oregon gator square in 0.105 I have. Should I get it or the twisted? I need cutting power to go through 0.05" thick vines on a foundation.

New McCulloch I bought last year had this line with little bumps on it, it feeds really well and I liked it. Bought Husqvarna replacement line have not tried it yet, seemed like closest thing to it, still working off that same spool of Mac line(around Home not commercially). Even though it's only .080" diameter it wears pretty good. Would like to try Oregon line, but at this rate I'll never use up the Husqvarna. The little bumps are supposedly for ease of feeding. Anybody else notice if some feed better than others? Remember having troubles with old trimmer feeding certain lines in the past but I can't remember what lines I had on them. Seems like one was red and square, kinda flared out even, that one gave me the fits.

I ordered a 1lb donut of each and will see which one I like!

I don't like Titanium line, it doesn't cut well it nor does it last. Try some Oregon Magnum Gatorline. It will put a smile on your face!

I considered it at first(bigger line), but with everything working just fine, I thought why change. I also considered a loss a loss in engine performance as well. Do not know how any of this would be in reality, it was just my thinking at the time when I ordered the line. I will consider it in the future though, thank you very much.

Thanks, I'll give that another look as well.

I know a guy who had the bright idea to use about a 4 foot length of garage door lift cable .Worked just fine for about 2 minutes until it flayed out to about a 3 foot fan and likened to beat him to death.Looked like somebody beat him with a bull whip .Not a good plan.

What kind of weedeater can spin a 4 foot length of cable?

But, way back when, I wondered why not use metal string too. Then I realized it would be throwing bits of metal everywhere. Off topic, I have been hit by the last piece of plastic string as it leaves the string head. Not fun.

Bumping this back up for any additional input. I have about finished my last 5 lb. spool and need to order another.

Of course it couldn't spin all 4 feet at one time .--He used a 4 foot piece on the spool .When he played out string the damned thing flayed out all 4 foot and beat the chit out of him .Poor guy his legs looked out like he lost a fight with a gaggle of Tom cats .

I love this stuff.

I have to get new Dolmar tap&go heads, I smashed one last year and only days later my dad smashed the second one I had. They are sturdy enough for me to modify them to four strings which is nice for a slow rpm generic PH!
