The 288 is still available in other countries and parts are still readily available, I have been into that particular model lately, I had 4 until tonight, sold 1 to a friend, but my other 3 will have a home right here. They are simple to work on and I dnt think I will ever need anything bigger, I had been looking at a 395XPG but think it is to heavy compared to my 288xp's, plus like most I grab my 346xp or 357xp most of the time.

038 is the older generation, they were heavier, didn't turn as many RPMs, and the choke was built into the air filter, problematic at best. The 044 is the newer updated design.
No need for one of those then..;)

it looks like they have most of the parts for a husky 350 at present... so that would cover the smaller saws if the AM wanted that... seems like there is a gap on the large end... 880, 090, 3120 ...something like that.

Sounds like the 070/090 are already cloned. Those 880's have to be impressive. Seems like there is interest in the 288's and no one bit on my favorite the 254. :(

Tough question.

PM850
6800i

I could just keep going...

930 jred
PP325

And going...

Super Rex
KMS4
BP-1
Alpina 120
3100g

And of course the already mentioned...

SP125
PP655bp
5200
166

And...

But then again, not sure I'd want to see some of these classics perverted in such a way...

Was just laughing, thinking how long a Chicom BP-1 would last.
Probably as long as the Original Mac! Chainsawhisperer has one he got running a couple of years back. What an innovative concept....something YOU would have thought of..:)

great saws much better than the newer generation produced and more reliable. i hear nothing but trouble from the 291/311/391 from throttle to bearing problems.
