Some oils do indeed lower octane slightly while some actually raise it. If the oil uses a stoddard solvent or kerosene diluent octane will be degraded. However some oils use high octane diluents that actually raise octane. One example is Honda HP2 which uses cumene Cumene has an octane of 108.
Honda hp2 is some good stuff.

It will increase egt if you don't tune for it, but so will a 10 degree decrease in temp or a small increase in load.

Comparison to Amsoil Dom, the base oils, viscosity, mixability, bottom end lubing, muffler goo(lol) etc?
I've only heard good things about hp2.
I’d probably still be using it except I got a ton of yamalube products from a small shop that closed down years ago. So I’ve been using 2R since then. Think I only have a few more bottles left. Still have a bunch of quarts of 2S left. Not entirely sure what I’m going to do with that.

2S is injector oil. You will notice it's not as clean as 2R.
There are no warts on 2R. It's great oil that has a track record of great performance longer than most any oil.
