It was tuned on the rich side and the piston shows it. That particular engine has a cylinder head and compression ratio that's border line on pump gas. Even more so when puped,which mine was.When the main jet was tuned properly it would detonate under really heavy load on occassion. I fixed this by cooling things down via bumping the main up two sizes. It worked well, but really what it needed was a recut head. Yamaha actually changed the head design for the next model year to solve the problem.That tune looks bang on. This makes me want to switch to K2. I thought K2 was FD rated?
