Red Makita 50:1 , mixed at 40:1 sometimes up to 32:1 for long bar & ported saws.

This is my secondary Dolmar PS-7900, she "oil hydro locked" on me today, nearly broke my fingers.
Anyone ever had their saw lock up from excessive oil?
First time for me, had to intentionally flood the engine to dilute and wash out the oil.
Pictures were taken prior to flooding the engine, pulled the muffler fearing she may have seized.

It’s not normally the oil that does it. The 7900s are known to seep gas through the needle and seat and will flood the bottom end.

For what it’s worth, Eggshooter ran vegetable oil at 50:1 and it left a sheen on the piston.

Vegetable oil worked or did not work

Just about out of the Husky XP oil that Bailey's sent me when I ordered Woodland Pro synthetic. I thought it was because they ran out, but it looks like they stopped selling it (except for the 5-gallon pail).

After a lot of reading and research, I got 3 gallons of this today:

It seems like really good oil (JASO FC rated full synthetic) for the price. Even with having to pay the high shipping cost (there seems to be a shortage of snowmobile stores in SC) from Mystik, it was about $43/gallon ($0.34/oz) including tax.

Not trying to change any minds, just wondering if anyone has any experience with it?

Heads up to anyone running castrol activ 2t (per rogue & trains recommendation) it’s actually changed colours and packaging. It’s likely only the dye that has changed, but if you crack open a bottle and see green that’s still correct. I thought I brought the wrong oil!

I know that the large frame Dolmar saws tend to flood, which is why I always do a pull no choke no high idle on cold starts with them.

But this was something different, or at least much more extreme.
I did pull the plug, it was dry.
Pulled the muffler, no scoring but loads of oil.
Engine would pull over without the plug, no chance with the plug seated back in.

I ended up pulling the plug, engaging choke and pulling the cord till fuel came out spraying out of the plug hole.
Disengaged choke & high idle, kept pulling the cord till the excess fuel got expelled - then let her sit and air out for a while.
I reseated the plug, pulled the cord once no choke no high idle and she fired up and stayed running/idling.

I am just happy it wasn't a bigger issue! :)
