So....If the ASTM oil tests are conducted at 150:1 to get 50:1 approval on an oil, 100:1 is a waste of time. Maybe Keith's suggestion of starting at 200:1 is a good idea. Using Red Armor was a good idea. He's probably right about this.
Man save yourself time and start at 200to1. Personally I look for the oil that protects best cleanly in extreme conditions. I cant see where 100to1 is going to tell us much?

But, but...my neighbor's friend's cousin's uncle knew a guy that read about....... Dominator causes rust. End of story.

I have 6 oils on that bare metal test plate for a month now. In the open. I didn't bag them. Its been hot and humid as hell and well below freezing during this time. All in my unisulated, unheated garage. None of them are rusting including Dominator.

Have you heated them up to 200 or so and then let them cool down like a saw would do after running in a cooler environment and then let it sit? I’ve opened saws with rust and white death from where I live.

I just don't want to hear no bullshirt from some peanut gallery if I do. If I skipped 300:1 on one oil then I'd deserve it but skipping 100:1 should not ruffle feathers. From this point on 200:1 is the starting point. I'm doing it man. Screw you OCD!

From any oil I assume? I've never seen rusty internals on any ope here. Rusty crumbling muffler internals on old saws that sat for years but nothing inside. Interesting the difference the climate makes.

No idea but probably stihl ultra from my area or the cheapest brand they can find. The saws I was getting were beat to death but I don’t like shiny new looking saws for myself any way. Our summer can be 100 with 99% humidity or 75 and 55 overnight. It’s been in the 40s at night the past few days and upper 80s a couple days before that.

@Keith Gandy
So Keith, you plan on dropping us like a hot tater after K2 or are you going to stick around? Careful how you answer because it could effect its place in the testing lineup. Just sayin. Could be next or last. Tread lightly here bud.:eek::risas3:
Go for it buddy! I wouldn't predict one way or the other what it may do but ready for it!:) I would have no problem going back to RA or Klotz Original but I still use both of thoso occasionally anyways. Predominately been using K2 though

Yeah our weather gets crazy sometimes too. Just 2 weeks after we had fresh snow it was 90° last week.

I think what we will find in these test will be the oils that protect in the worst case scenarios. So far the BM ran the lowest temperatures? That has to equal to the oils reaction to the metal and friction reduction? Id be interested in a WOT test of that oil at 32to1
