I know a logger thats uses wal mart supertech outboard oil and has for years. He gets decent or even long life out of some saws, yet others puke pretty early. Internals look like one would expect. Id also say as the yeara have gone by and saws have started to run hotter and use less oil his ratio of long runners to pukers has gone down hill.
I suspect terrible port chamfers as being the cause. If I bought one I would tear down chamfer and reassemble before I ran it. Mostly because seeing that wear would drive me nuts.
After showing him the damage from a stuck ring he said but it was running fine and just needed alil tuning. I ask him what oil do u use and he said Im not sure but I have a bottle in the back of the truck. I wasnt suprised in the least when he lifted up a Stihl silver bottle. Look in the ring lands and I had already scraped alot out after breaking the rings to get them free. Wonder how many saws r out there running that crap that folks say it works just fine and is on the brink of this situation?
Dirty air filter didnt help but when this oil comes in contact with high temps this is exactly what it does. See it everyday. Good for business though
I remeber putting a new piston in my 390 and after tearing it down for inspection and it was rubbing on the intake skirt. You told me u had seen them from the factory test runs that look like this and since then everyone I have torn down look the same except the 550xp and my 562xp Ive had . They were both spotless

Im not so sure about the new Red Armor. I hadnt used it and it may be fine but looks as if they were on the cheapYeah Yeah what he said!!!!
