Red Armor or Husqvarna XP oil, are my preference.
I can not get Red Armor here, Husqvarna yes,
but am not so sure the Husqvarna XP will keep together
in the mix, I know it is good as others here use it, but
they are full time so mixes don't lay about.

Thanks for posing, john

Those coil failures are on saws made in the 70s and 80s no worries now Echo is just doing the right thing.

And are you asking about Red Armor? Yes I use it and like it. Here we have Echo RA and Echo Power Blend. Everyone says the RA is better. In reality though it comes down to good gas and right mix ratio with the right tune on the carb.
I was interested to hear about the power blend,
I was told it leaves ash, more than the Red Armor.
I honestly think ash should be a thing of the past for
the most part as the oils in question are both FD,
and if anything the cheaper / power x shold have less
because red armor outranks it in price, and is being used
in large saws that are not in people gardens and towns,
hens no need to be as clean.
Nest off we will have D&G or Chanell producing fragrant oils
so we don't upset peoples noses.

I just give it a good shaking before I fill the first fuel tank of the day. No matter which oil I am using.
I hope your sitting down, just rang the Echo dealer,
and was told, Echo oil is for Echos, and Red Armor
is for the Shindaiwas.

So no Red Armor for me.

What a bunch of poppycock.

What a bunch of poppycock.
This is the mentality where I live, its more likely
that they get the powerblend cheaper, so they sell it,
on top of this, its a dealershp that sells garden equipment,
strimmers, hedge cutters, lawnmowers, no chainsaw guys,
so the powermix will never come under pressure in the
items they sell. Thats why am concerned regarding
using powerblend in a high compression saw that will be
put into fairly heavy work.
I don't know anyone that uses powerblend in such saws
so am a little weary.

I would call that a good presentation on your dealers lack of intelligence
If I had another dealer close, I would not be in this situation.
Money is all that matters to them now, simply because there
is enough of a population that their next customer will be like
me, new, and my not going back to deal with them won't hurt
in the least.
They are all pretty much the same over here.

I bought a new bar and cahin, that had to be modded to fit
my shindaiwa, dealer cut too much out when he was doing
one side in the shop, the oil gets past and runs down the side
of the saw, told dealer about this when I was after another new
saw, he listened in silence, and said he would get a price for the
new saw, did I deal with him again, no, they simply do not care.

Maruyama's chainsaws were re badged Makita, so if you have one
of them, then parts should be ok.
Regarding the 5 yr warranty, thay woud suggest Echo,
My Echo saw has 5 yr consumer and I think 2 yr pro warranty,
not that it matters as I fix my own stuff as long as parts are available.
I can take a dump in a box and mark it warrantied but all I sold you was a warrantied piece of *s-word. (Tommy Boy parody.)
A warranty is only good if they stand behind it. I've read people having issues getting the broken echos warranted. Know what your getting into I guess.

I use Dolmar synthetic or huskvana synthetic in the new saws

And in the old boys toys I use red line racing oil the old Dolmars and solos love it and it smells good :):)

Will use stihl oil at a push
Hi Andrew, I looked up that product earlier on
to see if I could get it, for I recon if it works in
a high compression engine like the 6100 it would
work in all my saws, as usual not available here.
I was using XP, but not the latest XP, I will just
get some of the new XP and only mix enough to do
as it seems to have ESTHER 's in it, this will do my
two biggest saws, and I can use the Echo
in the others as it has fuel stabiliser.

Thans & Regards to all who posted, john

Trying Dolmar synthetic in handhelds. Bought 2.5 gal. Shipped for 42$
Hi Keith Gandy
Thanks for posting, further down the road I will try the Dolmar oil,
ajschainsaws have it.
I was just comparing it to Echo PowerblendX, and found this,
Echo powerblenx flash point = 154F
Dolmar flashpoint = 213.8F
And here is some more specs if anyone cares to explain their relevance
in the cool running of a saw.
Amsoil Interceptor - 183 F

Amsoil Dominator- 194 F

Amsoil Saber Pro - 237 F

Maxima Formula K2 - 240 F

Maxima Super M - 280 F

Maxima Super M Injector - 220 F

Maxima Castor 927 - 420 F

Maxima Bio 2T - 180 F

Motul 710 - 190 F

Motul 800 - 485 F

Motul Bio 2T - 255 F

Motorex Cross Power 2T - 230 F

Lucas Semi Synthetic - 182 F

Bel Ray H1R - 435 F

Bel Ray MC1 - 208 F

Bel Ray Si7 - 194 F

Castrol Power RS- 163 F

Castrol 2T - 194 F

Red Line Two-Stroke Racing Oil - 221 °F

Anybody?, ok, the higher the flash point temp,
the more oil residue is available to keep your engine
lubed at the risk of slight gunge, lower flash point temp
burns the oil out as it ignites sooner and has more time to burn.
Would igniting sooner not also increase tempratures,
in any event even the Echo oil won't ignite before the fuel.
Castrol 2T Motol 710 look good, both FD grade and probably more
suited to chainsaws than the rest, they seem over kill given the low
horse power involved.
Thanks for posting

Wow! Who knew there was such a myriad of information about silly old two cycle oil?

Here's my thoughts on two cycle oil. Buy the best you can afford, that is readily available.

I repair handheld power equipment a few days a week, and it always boggles my mind how commercial operations will spend $1000+USD on a saw, and then burn it up running dreadfully cheap oil.

What's the deal with flashpoints? Higher the better? Not sure how to interpret those figures.

Hi Jon1212
They won't ship, lots of that here, its the laws on this side
that dont allow inflamible concoctions to be carried in a plane,
cargo yes, not standard air.

Trying to get Red Armor, that I do understand to be a good oil.
Wouldn't mind waiting on it to come, but its not available locally.
So what has one to do, earlier I got a bottle of Husky XP to try,
a local man who uses huskies says it great, will know in due course.
All I need now is for someone to say its crap, and I will have another ornament.
