I think most of these oils will work but it takes alil obsession to get them dialed in to your saw and load so they perform correctly
Agreed, its good to know what oils have what properties,
and use that informaton to get your saw running the way
it will last as opposed to seize up for lack of lube, of courese
the tunning has to be right too, else oil still may not get there
in the right quantity.

I agree. The piston crown will tell alot. Alil light brown carbon tells me its still alil rich, dark black carbon pretty lean and gettin most of the usable power from complete combustion and no carbon is really rich with low temp

Saws are very low HP to CC compared to s bike of the same size. 1/3 or so.
Probably because saws engines need to be small by nature,
and they also miss out on all the cooling from hurtling through the air.
The EPA are killing the saws, they cant breathe, stuffed up so they
make the grade, great idea all right, keep the crap in the saw to save
the environment, and make a new one at even more environmental cost
to replace it when it dies a premature death.

I definetely agree that they arent being tuned by the electronics to live a long life

I look at the plug, and it tells me if I need to look at the piston top,
I do anyway. I cut a full day on my Shinny 490, doing work the 6100 was
lined up to do, and the piston top is spotless clean.
I know its rich, and I wouldnt have it any other way, but its not mental rich,
that brings other problems, and she runs nice and cool, summer will heat her
up without me having to change anything, it was quite cold with a fierce wind
that day, hair blowing backways, sawdust like snow, so all in all, she is good to go.

I thought 1 HP per CI was good? [emoji2]
Horse power is fine, as long as you can get rid of the heat,
some say ported saws with muffler mods run cooler,
and attribute this to the increased flow throuth the cylinder and out.
HP and RPM alone are no good, there is no rotating mass to help keep up
that speed, thus we depend on Torque to pull through the cut.

You guys are so out of touch. The latest and greatest is to make a cocktail of oills. Pick your top 4 or 6 and blend them... some conventional, some semi synthetic and some full synthetic. That way you get the best of EVERYTHING.
