Shoot man I dont know what was goin on with it but that Super is known to make a mess. Only way I caught the stuck ring was inspection through exhaust port and noticed blowby and tore it down and thats what I found
Any chance that saw was running lean or got hot?
My BP blower has a Husky strato engine as well. Mindful of your results I inspected the piston through the exhaust several time while running through thr 8 gallons of mix I had to dispose of. No buildup in the ring lands and grooves at all. Also no blow by. The spark plug did foul about halfway through the 7 gallons of mix, which is extremely strange for a Husky strato engine. The red max blower I had before this ran for 8 years and tons of hours on the original plug.

That saw was the one with the airleak right?
Ya it ended up having a very small airleak around the flywheel side seal. Fixed that and it still didnt run right. I think it was something wacky with the carb. An airleak that small usually runs undetected and the autotune will tune it out. There was something else goin on that I couldnt figure out and Lil Red Barn didnt figure it out in 2 months worth lookin at it either

With a very small airleak like it had Im thinkin the Autotune would richen it which would make it make less carbon and stay cleaner wouldnt it? To run hotter or leaner the autotune would have to lean it to make more carbon IMO

I just got done running a hybrid mix. I started with canned VP SEF at 40:1, then added some Super Techniplate to it for some color. I think I ended up at 32:1.
My saws ran great on them. Internals looked real good too. Clean.

I bought a Maruyama straight shaft trimmer late last year that was being cleared out by a big box lumber store (Rona) that's like Home Depot but CDN , anyway they had them marked down 50% so I got one and i'm really impressed with it .
I run my hi test/ Saber 40:1 mix in it and was on the same tank from last year (my yard isn't very large) and decided today to use the Tru fuel so I won't have any gasoline issues . It was a 50:1 mix so I added enough Red Armor to bring it to 40:1 . After running it for a while on this I noticed the clutch was just engaging the line head a bit so I adjusted the idle . Got to say it really runs nice on that mix and the increase in idle RPM showed the change too .

A few weeks later I saw they had a hedge trimmer marked down 70% so I grabbed one of those but haven't run it yet nor the 30cc saw I got as well . They were clearing out all the Maruyama stuff and you couldn't pass it up at the prices . All made in Japan , hedge trimmer looks much like an Echo , trimmer might be too . The saw is an odd one , not sure what it might be , maybe made by ? Maruyama .
Down side is there is no dealer support up here with the 5 year warranty but my understanding is if you have an issue they will send parts so we'll see . Not too worried for what I payed :)
Maruyama's chainsaws were re badged Makita, so if you have one
of them, then parts should be ok.
Regarding the 5 yr warranty, thay woud suggest Echo,
My Echo saw has 5 yr consumer and I think 2 yr pro warranty,
not that it matters as I fix my own stuff as long as parts are available.

And a life long coil warranty! Cause there some good ol solid Echos here with dead coils that are NLA.

Hi Dub11
Thats not good news since I have an Echo, hope the coil
does not die on it for a long time to come.
Just rang the Echo dealer here, asked about Red Armour,
he was stumped, the girl in the ofice was stumped, they
are ringing I assume their supplier to inquire about it,
so hopefully it can be got.

Whats your impression of Echo two stroke,
would you use it in a 200psi saw, or a 7900 Makita.
None of the manufacturers quote viscosity, and no hope
of finding the sheer strenght of their oils.

Thanks for the good info on the coil failures.:crybaby2:

Those coil failures are on saws made in the 70s and 80s no worries now Echo is just doing the right thing.

And are you asking about Red Armor? Yes I use it and like it. Here we have Echo RA and Echo Power Blend. Everyone says the RA is better. In reality though it comes down to good gas and right mix ratio with the right tune on the carb.

Red Armor or Husqvarna XP oil, are my preference.
