I send out to Blackstone Labs. I think they are about $25 or so. If you go to their website, they will send you a sample package to send your oil in.

With me extending my oil change to around 10K (16K km) that's once a year in the fall for me now between using the car or bike . Since it gets cold up here I use 0W20 which is better for cold starts since my engine is DOHC you want that oil getting up top ASAP .

I guess there isn't too many engines left that aren't overhead cam
The early Ford 2.3 that was used in the Pinto when it first came out was a big deal , bearings didn't last long in the cam with cold starts using 10W30 Dino which was the common oil back in the early 70's .

I bought a Maruyama straight shaft trimmer late last year that was being cleared out by a big box lumber store (Rona) that's like Home Depot but CDN , anyway they had them marked down 50% so I got one and i'm really impressed with it .
I run my hi test/ Saber 40:1 mix in it and was on the same tank from last year (my yard isn't very large) and decided today to use the Tru fuel so I won't have any gasoline issues . It was a 50:1 mix so I added enough Red Armor to bring it to 40:1 . After running it for a while on this I noticed the clutch was just engaging the line head a bit so I adjusted the idle . Got to say it really runs nice on that mix and the increase in idle RPM showed the change too .

A few weeks later I saw they had a hedge trimmer marked down 70% so I grabbed one of those but haven't run it yet nor the 30cc saw I got as well . They were clearing out all the Maruyama stuff and you couldn't pass it up at the prices . All made in Japan , hedge trimmer looks much like an Echo , trimmer might be too . The saw is an odd one , not sure what it might be , maybe made by ? Maruyama .
Down side is there is no dealer support up here with the 5 year warranty but my understanding is if you have an issue they will send parts so we'll see . Not too worried for what I payed :)

Sludge will likely never cause an issue unless it gets really bad to the point it plugs the oil pump pick up screen . Saw a number of cars back in the day that were really neglected and full of sludge but they kept on going .
Sometimes I wonder if we worry about stuff like that too much

I don't know much but the one thing I'll swear by is never ever use engine restore in a can!

You also need to keep a brush handy and sweep that dust away from the cap area before you open , damn stuff gets in there and causes problems !!
