hell i might run some husqvarna xp oil at 50:1 i know there is no rating on the xp oil i have seen but from working on my friends stuff who run it at 50:1 they look good the price is also fair at 1.78 for the 1 gallon bottle 2.29 for the 2.5 gallon bottle and the 5 gallon bottle is 3.99.

I believe it is certified. Most Brands sold by Elux have certified oil.

Hows the exhaust smell with the maxima Ben ? This saber stuff is starting to mess with my sinus' like h1r did .
Nearly zero smell when tuned properly.
Strong smell is an indication that your tuned rich or that the oil you are using isn't combusting fully.

Stihl Canada's oil is labeled API TC. It's made by Castrol and in an orange -topped white bottle. It's been popular around here for maybe 25 years when it replaced the Esso and John Deere smokey oils that no one liked.

The stihl semi synth HP is FD rated, full synth Ultra FB. While JASO ratings are important I don't judge an oil by its rating or supposed rating entirely. XX rating does not mean its neccesarily best for XX application.

As of today Stihl does not have any certified oils. I checked the list this morning which was updated on 8/1/16.
While there are certainly good oils that are not certified, it takes a bit of trial and error to find them and the knowledge to judge quality. When buying a certified oil you know it meets a set of standards. A company claiming it "meets" or "exceeds" standard is BS in my book as they haven't been ran through the standards bench tests. For the wood tick that wants to use a decent oil that's tested to be of high quality using a certified oils isn't a bad move.

The 'meets' or 'exceeds' marketing BS is what many base an oil purchase decision on. Blenders are allowed to write pretty much anything on a bottle & do so because people buy into it. Even the term synthetic is highly abused and does not really tell much about an oil. I've found price to be a good indicator of high end synthetics as its not cheap too produce. But many folks look for the 'cheapest full synth FD rated' believing they are getting value for money.

That is one thing I like about red armor is it has the fd registered # on the bottle.
And it is expensive. At about 0.70 an oz. The Dolmar synthetic I can get for just under 0.35 an oz.
