I always liked fat needles ,and lean pilots and mains
Was taught if the bike idles ,it is too rich on the pilot ,10-15 seconds it should die if the pilot is right .
That is a huge trait on Cat sno-x sleds....

They just do not like to idle to long they bog pretty bad.... but when racing on a closed course the last thing you need to worry about is idle lol

Any oil will clean a piston if it's running excessively rich and poorly combusting.
Tuned correctly I have never seen a oil remove carbon that's already in place.
Btw I am working g with my cr500 right now and I got the jetting such that it's burning Super techniplate very cleanly. Running a different taper needle than I have used before and it's working great. This is no easy task with a five hunny as they are typically fat down low decent in the midrange, lean to the point of detonation under load at 3/4 throttle and rich on top.
Just curious, what carb are you running? PJ or PWK?

Used to have all this stuff memorized ,have not had a 2 stroke atv for over 10 years now ,forgot my sizes now ,i think i used to run a 50 or 52 pilot ,172 seems to jump out for a main size ,i need to look on my shop wall still to see what needle i ran ,i remember it was in the 4th clip ,i am still at work ,carb was a 38 air stryler modded to 39 mm ,had a 302 cc jug
With the Air stryker modded to 39mm does it still have the staring vanes in place? IF so, who did the work?

Thought I would share something I observed this morning. I was doing a little testing prior to a dune riding trip with my cr 500 motored cr250f. I mixed two gallons of Supertechniplate/premium non E. The jugs I use are a white plastic so you can see into them well. I noticed after filling a portion of the oil stayed on the bottom of the jug and didn't mix. Didn't think nothing of it so I shook the jug and went out to a sand pit I test in. When I got there the oil had seperate again. This makes me very nervous... I ended up going back home and mixing up some Yamalube 2R and it mixed fine with the same brand gas.

I am not blaming Klotz. I think what I am seeing is the castor not mixing.
Have you checked to see if that Royal Purple you are using is a marine oil formulation wise?

Still using Lucas semi-synth @40:1. I've been using 10% ethanol pump fuel for a few years, but a place close by now has 90 octane non-e on the pump now.

Yes it did have the fins, Arlen Lehman my engine builder at the time did it. Some work was done by hand around the fins
The air strykers in my experience need a lot different jetting than the normal carbs. Especially on the needle and mains. Who was LRD?

That was a very sarcastic question on my end. I grew up racing in that era and know all about him. ;)

Been liking 2R a good bit.... however I still like what K2 does.

Have to give the 562 a while
go see how 2R looks after some run time.
Sent from my non internal combustion device.
