Do most customers mix 50:1? Do you ever recommend 40:1?
Most use stihl oil at 50 to1. No need to tell them any difference because they think the stihl name means its the best oil and that their dealer told them 50to1 so i leave it alone.

I'm curious to see the "timed cuts" from Redbull's oil tests. Proper lubrication in the lower-end is probably the most important criteria no matter what brand of oil you're using.
Hp2 was the fastest so far he tested. In the milling cuts I ran it was faster than mobil. Dumonde had the fastest cookie cutting times.

I am really surprised anyone is saying that some of these cheaper mixes are suitable for ope. I have used a ton of oils and only ones I thought were junk is sone smb crap my brother in law had and some other multi mix crap. I have found when filling up customers equipment I must use and tune to atleast 40:1 with basic oil or I have conebacks. I still love citgo aircooled, mystic products, amsoil saber, and lucas @32:1 the amsoil I think it's great upto 50:1 tho.

....oils and ratios to be tested...

Schaeffers 32:1 36:1

Mobil 1 32 36 40 44?

Belray si-7 – 32:1 36:1

HP2 32 36 40

Yamalube 32 40 – just to show it sucks

Super tech 32 36 40 44?

Dumonde 32 36 40

H1r 32? 36 40 44?

800 off rd 32 36 40 44?

Amsoil 32 40 44? - im thinking 32 will run coolest and 40 will run hotter then I won’t have to do 44

K2 – 32 36 40

R50 – 32 36 40

---------------------------

will take the winning or best ratio for each oil and put them up against each other.

winning = best times, and coolest temps. Plan to have at least 2 guys doing the test cuts maybe 3...and get multi opinions on how they run as well.

Mostly reposting for me, so I can remember what you're testing. Looking forward to it!

I know a guy that has a lawn service and uses the cheapest 2-cycle oils he can find. He has to remove the buildup on his pistons and exhaust ports once a year. He's had engine issues with all the excess buildup. He mixes at 50:1 and the cylinders I've seen have a lot of scoring.

I'm looking for the cleanest burning with great lower-end lubrication. Timed-cuts are interesting but I don't race, just cut firewood.

Keith is correct with that statement. Also, most Loggers never retune their saws. They'll say, "I leave at the factory setting. Stihl dealers know the best tune."

Tell them Klotz at 50:1 will double the life of their saws. Then they might try it.

The actual cleanest burning oil so far I've tried is dumonde. It left a gray ash after 2 tanks that wiped off. I have 800 but unless I'm milling it doesn't burn so it's not making full power.

I will say this about testing. What works the best in one saw doesn't mean it will the best choice in your saw. Like handloading, a certain powder that your 7mag likes may not work for your buddy's 7mag.

True. The closer you get to the viscosity of saw oils the better they seem to run. Klotz doesn't seem to effect the combustion process as much as H1R and 800.
