Straight gassing kills more saws than anything else in these parts.

Whats pre mix? I thought you put the oil in one reservoir and gas in the other....you know, like oil injection. Or i let my buddy use it and now it won't start. Or i grabbed the mower gas can and didn't realize it. And sometimes extreme carbon build up from using trash pre mix that eventually cips off and ends up in the jug. most common reasons for toasted homeowners saws i get in from homeowners. Pro saws usually seem to be an air leak of some sort leading to scoring also.

I got an 025 off a guy that took his quad bike out to tow some firewood and had a can of gas and a can of premix but mixed them up. I also got an 066 off a farmer that said it wouldn't start , its air filter was clogged full of sawdust and the carb was full of crap too, I ended up replacing the piston because is was a bit rough on the intake side. Still the filthiest saw I've ever had to clean, beats the hell out of me why anyone would buy an expensive saw and treat it like that.

From my limited experience fixing saws for people what I've noticed is this

The small homeowner saws usually have a toasted piston due to either straight gas, improper carb adjustment or from over working the saw due to a dull chain. I also noticed that these saws are usually not very old. (Under 5yrs)

The larger pro type saws I find also tend to have toasted pistons and cylinders. What I usually find with these saws is that they usually have an air leak, bad bearings or the carb needs to be rebuilt. These saws tend to be older(10yrs old and older)
