Sitting here scrolling through the Internet looking at chainsaw stuff then all the sudden I let out a loud ppsshhh WHAT?!?!!?!?????! Bruhhh!!! I'm at a loss for words. A *f-wording chainsaw driven drill??? I've always thought to myself DeWalt 60volt dcd130b could be more of a wrist breaker.(Without secondary handle) But now my dreams of total wrist inialation can finally become reality.

No but seriously tho that's pretty freaking cool. I swear sometimes i wonder how the hell people come up with these ideas. Like think about it, at one point a man said: okay if we take this rock and this rock smash them together= the thing your holding in your hand. (No not that)..... I know years of trail and error go into things but essentially that is how it all started. Technology never ceases to blow my mind. Screenshot_20240829-201919.png

That type of drill set up was used around here to tap maple trees years ago. Now everyone seems to use battery powered drills.
*s-word!!!!!! I feel dumb I didn't even think of using that drill on trees.🤣

*Hey dümbā$$ this drill in question is attached to a freaking chainsaw!!! A CHAIN-SAW!!!!! You know the thing that cut down the tree!!!! 😭

For some reason I was thinking it was more like a rotary hammer drill with sole purpose of drilling masonry 🤣

25 yrs ago…or longer…there was a company in the US that made the 026 Stihl into a drill. A guy who worked for them sold the no longer needed, brand new parts on eBay for cheap. That guy died some time ago and another took over. I have bought pts from both of them.
Now the blue seems to have horned in on their business.

I have a Stihl 08s with the one man auger. It uses a MT3 spline to drive things so you can fit a chuck. Atom in Australia still make the drill bits for them as well.

Don't have a pic of it with the motor on but a 08s bolts to this

I remember helping a friend with his sugaring one season in the early '70s and he used one of those to tap trees. Back when we had real winters and 3+ feet of snow, carrying the sap in two 5 gallon buckets back to the tractor that had the bulk tank. Good times!

I have seen (and nearly bought) a hedge trimmer attachment for a Stihl 026.

There were all sorts of attachments for saws. I cannot think of them all but here are a few
Stihl
I have the hedge trimmer attachment for the 024/026
The retired Stihl dealer her still has I believe a NOS drill attachment for the 08S
There were tons of earth auger attachments for the Stihl 08S
There was an earth anchor attachment for setting power pole anchors
The 08S and 041 were used for brush cutters

Homelite
I have a drill attachment on a C72
I have a earth auger attachment on C-series
I have a Lewis winch on a SXL.
I have a SXL brushcutter
I have a XL-12 on a water pump
I have a SXL/XL-12 circular saw
There were many SXL/XL-12 generators.

McCulloch
I have a 5-49 two man with an earth auger
The 940 two man was used on a welder
They used the 10-10 series saws on battery chargers

The list goes on.

What about those debarking drums?? I kinda want/need one of those. I just not to sure I'd they are good. I've been using a kukri as a drawing knife. Gets pretty annoying

We did tree surgery in the UK from mid 70's using a chainsaw drill attachment to drill through limbs to attach wire ropes to iffy branches to help with weight. I couldnt imagine using a brace and bit on a 2 or 3 foot trunk. Also used stihl earth auger for fencing posts where we couldn't use tractor knocker... we put up miles of high tensile stock fencing. stihl 246 hedge trimmers on 024 and 026, brilliant. so unless you have used these tools in their appropriate application, then yes it may seem overwhelming.
