So the air filter was the culprit then. Glad that was it.
It's this models Achilles heel.

This is the second or third that's done this to me.

I bought a new AM flocked that had nearly no air flow. Other older OEMs that pull the choke shut.

You need to either go OEM metal/new nylon mesh or change over to the cheaper and readily available MS260 rear end.

Another note on this build, something i just realized.

The 024 flywheel has less cooling fins than it's 026 counterpart.

So I'm running more displacement, more compression and more timing advance on a saw with less cooling ability.

It's getting an 026 flywheel swap this week. I will post pics of the different flywheels.

Al, if it's possible for you to Weigh the difference between them that would be very interesting also.

Thanks Al! Good info. It seems like the fins on the 024 flywheel look much smaller (especially on the counterweight and magnets) in comparison to the 026 flywheel. Seems like 026 has the better design.

Update on this saw.

The Definitive Dave 194 clone, with the Venturi opened .020, added 1200-1500 rpm to this saw. I went from. 13,500 to a 15,000 4 stroke.

The bog is still there, even with this other carb. But damn does it ever run.

That's weird. Same bog with a different carb? Sure sounds like low screw is rich. But two of them. And I know you can tune a saw. Very interesting...

Ignition timing off a bit too far?

.025 off key.

I doubt it's the timing.

I still have to put the reset 194 back on today.

I've got little to cut here and need to walk through a foot of snow to find it.

The 194 clone needs some blue loctite on the LA screw, other than that, it's pretty amazing. It's much more adjustable than the OEM. I'm gonna try one opened .030 next.

These little saws are way undercarbed IMHO. 1500 rpm increase with a Venturi .010 bigger than stock. I'm having a hard time believing that myself.
