The reason we have the off topic area is to help the chainsaw and other topic specific areas stay on point better. With the saw giveaway going on....we can't expect that to be the case right now though. Also, this is a new site, and some people are gonna push against the boundaries to see where the line is.
The only reason I agreed to be the moderator is that I know most of you guys personally. Many of us have been friends for years. Since I know what to expect from this "crew" I like to think I can head off any detours that might end badly. Don't hesitate to contact me if you see anything that needs attention. I don't like the idea of deleting posts, or even altering them. I really would not like the task of banning anyone. In my mind, that's the worse thing a site can do. Hell, even giving out warning points goes against my ideals. I'm just another member that wants a great site......
If someone crosses the line (and remember, the rules are set by the site owner), I'll just send them a PM. Hopefully we can come to an agreement about how we need to behave on the site.
Here's what's really cool. I see a bunch of guys that really know how to modify saws here. They are sharing ideas, posting videos, build threads, giving out tips, etc. There have been zero problems. No arguments at all from any of the saw guys.
Now over in off topic, I have seen some memes that are outside the rules.
