I’ve worked on quite a few Stihl pole saws over the years, but mostly 130’s and 131’s. I pretty much have to relearn each time, because they usually come in disassembled because someone else had them apart and couldn’t get them together. They’re far more complex and finicky than Echo’s Power Pruner, which makes sense since Power Pruner was the OG of pole saws.

It has been a while since I have assembled those, but you might want to check, the inner shaft may be different (different mating heads or shapes). If I remember correctly its not as easy as just swapping poles (but then I could be remembering wrong). Stihl doesn't really like people mismatching stuff to make things work better or save some money. Some things have square pegs and others have round holes so you can't easily match them up.

Which is why a friend’s tree service has dumped their Stihl’s for Echos. Half the price and easier to work on…and, parts show up at the dealer in 4 days.

I tried repairing a couple of his 131s. You really need a 20’ flat table to work on them.

I have a landscaping business and Echo equipment just flat out works, and it doesn’t die. Although not as powerful as Stihl. I’ve got several of their SRM 225 weed eaters and one has been running for at least 7 years with nothing more than filter changes. I had to replace the purge bulb line this year. I just started it up yesterday for the first time since October, it started on the 2nd pull.

Stihl hasn’t had a 21cc trimmer offering for decades. You should be comparing a 2620 to a 91 or 94.
