For the past few years I've been buying TruFuel 40:1 mix for my two chainsaws and blower. I had just opened my last can from my last two-case purchase and I was searching for the best price for TruFuel (regular price of $5.96) and found that Home Depot offers a price of $4.47/can if one buys 12 or more cans (a 25% discount) at a time at the store level.

I visited my local Home Depot customer service desk with price printouts and asked about buying two cases of six cans and have it shipped in the store for pickup, as they only had six loose cans in stock. The customer service guy told me the store and the Home Depot website are two different businesses and the best he could do is to sell me the six cans in stock for the price of $4.47 ea. I like to buy TruFuel in case lots instead of loose cans as they are a hassle and makes about as much sense as buying loose eggs at the grocery instead of in cartons.

I went home empty handed but as I thought more about it, I went on the Lowe's website and found they had 108 cans in stock at a nearby store. I found too that Lowe's will discount 10% from a competitors everyday price so I bought a Home Depot printout of the 12 or more store price of $4.47 per can. Of the 108-can inventory at the Lowes store, I brought home the only two full cases at a price of $4.02/can before tax. If they had had more full cases, I would have bought at least another case.

I like using that stuff for storage fuel. I'll have to go see if they have the 4 cycle fuel in a case for that price. It's cheaper than a gallon at TSC.

I took a portion of a screen grab from the Home Depot website and they offer the same discount of $4.47/.ea for 12 or more cans purchase of the 4-cycle fuel.

Asked for a better price at lowes and got 4.02 per 32oz can of the 40:1 and $16/gallonView attachment 44085
Im set to winterize some saws now

A case of 6 x 32 oz. cans (6 x 32 oz. = 192 oz.). 192 0z./128 oz. = 1½ gallons. Four 32 oz. cans = 1gal. Four cans x $4.02 ea. = $16.08/gallon when bought in 32 oz. cans.

It appears you save 8 cents by buying the gallon size at $16 over buying the 32 oz. cans.

Inquiring minds want to know.

EDIT: It was pointed out by KenJax Tree in a later post that the "gallon" can of TruFuel is not a full gallon, only 110 oz., not a full 128 oz.

Can't find any E_free pump gas anywhere in my state. I have no choice but to use bottled fuel

I may have to go check my HD or Lowes. We keep it in our toolboxes for our truck saws for emergency use. I don't keep a lot of premixed on hand even in E free gas due to it going stale. I dump it in a 50 gallon drum after 30-45 days and reuse it as drip torch fuel for the spring. I mix what we need when we are cutting a lot.

Or use 100ll from a local airport. About $5.00 a gallon or less.

How does 100ll effect saws? I used to run it in my other 4 stroke engines, but never a two stroke. That was before I moved away from the local airport and now my mower and tiller are DIESELS!
