Did the intake not match the boot?

Tried take a good pic. The port face on this jug is slightly larger than the boot. Am I misunderstanding what you are doing at the face?

it's a casting, there never the same. this one was smaller then the boot so it got opened up.
you can either open up the boot or epoxy the port.
I shortened the duration with epoxy, hard to see but it's in there

Do you use powdered aluminum as a filler for the epoxy, or do you use a steel-filled type of epoxy (ala "Plastic Steel")...or do you use some other filler/thickener, like maybe fumed silica or something? (I use epoxy by the gallon.) I'm thinking powdered alum might be a good filler, since it's so light and thermally conductive...

I've been using jb weld for years. I know there are better options out there, but if it fails I want something softer. the failures I've had went through the engine without damaging anything.

I wouldn't be doing any outdoor work when it's that cold! How does your saw run in that weather? You use a winter kit or carb heater? The oil must be like molasses.

I don’t do anything outside unless it is an emergency. Only way I am getting a saw out at this temp is if there is a tree down across a road and someone needs to get past.

I usually hang them up about -10 or -15. I typically am all Arctic saws with a few exceptions of ones that come up from down there.
