Tooth size effect on chip size

Ok folks, I have a chain that is almost at its end. Filed back to the witness marks and rakers taken down (without a gauge). I was getting pretty small chips but it was cutting good. Do chips get smaller as the teeth get smaller or is my sharpening/ raker filing crap?

If you take the gullet down to the tie strap it will carry a bigger chip .

Because the tooth is getting narrower and shorter.

also why lots of people wait till near end of life for a race chain because of a narrower kerf.
