This is probably no recolection ithis guy contacted me to cut this big ass oak tree.the tree was hit by lightning the power co.layed tree down and cut some up.he stated when i pulled my. Stock dusl port muffler 064 out with a 32 in half skip and ran it in that tree that he was gonna sit in the chair and watch that my saw was faster and cut better then saws they had.he was intriged. And impressed of what it did.my bar wouldnt cut all the way thru even with 32 in bar i had to go to other side.

I don't like ES bars Keith, they all seem front heavy to me (except the Light ones). My Chinese 660 balances perfectly with a 24" E bar, but unfortunately, they are NLA in 24".

The 20" E bars are much nicer on a 60 or 70 cc saw than the 20" ES bars also. I hefted a new 362 Ver II with a 20" ES bar in the shop and it was very front heavy. I would rather use a Ver I with a E bar and Ver II with an ES.
Mike IMO u can make any saw balance pretty good with the right bar?

If im looking at your postings isnt that a 064 in your first post at 15.43 lbs? If so thats only 3 ozs less of factory specs.thats pretty damn close.

That's not uncommon either. Some specs are spot on. Still, I posted it because someone stated they have seen 14.1lbs spec'd.

I've seen Stihl literature claiming a 044 is 13 lbs, but have never actually seen one that light. However, with different cranks, rods, jugs and flywheels, I'm sure there were various weights.

I have seen some absolutely insane statements when it comes to weight, and even mroe insane arguments regarding weights on forums. Neal and I started the gallery because he was repairing and reselling saws at the time, so had access to a great deal of different makes and models. He also thought some of the specs were complete BS. My favourite spec was the old Dolmar spec of 13.6 lbs for a 7900. I saw this shortly after I compared my 046 with @sawfun 's 7900. I was impressed with the speed of the 7900, but my high compression(factory) o46 had a slight edge when you leaned on it. I noticed the 7900 weighed a LOT less due to mine being a full wrap 046(we were in Oregon at the time). But 13.6 lbs, no way. So it began.

Having said that, it's still impressive that Dolmar make a 79cc spring AV saw at the weight they are. My 046 full wrap weighed nearly a pound more.

I haven't weighed it yet, but I am fairly certain my 044 with the stock cover and tiny factory dawg is well under 14 lbs with the standard non euro baffled muffler. I recently weighed it at 14 lbs on the dot before I removed the muffler. Problem is I do not have a scale that weighs in pounds :( This one is in STONES. I'll try and get one and then weigh it again since I still have the original clutch cover, and add it to the gallery. I think the old fashioned air filter cover saves a bit of weight as well.

Almost forgot to add - I recently picked up a 562xp here locally(they are finally becoming available - used to only be the 560). I was amazed at how it felt about the same as my 044 does.

That 046 had freakin great compression, tho. I think it was the older "D" cylinder? Dunno. I never had it apart. I do miss that saw, tho. She never missed a beat:

I ran that 7900 side by side with my old 460 and yes the cut the same speed but you could lean on the 460 a bit more. The 7900 went downnthe road and I kept the 460. Trouble is that my early 046 spanked that 460, which was strong, hard.

No I didn't laugh at that.

I laughed at how retarded this is and how people can't answer direct questions and understand simple things ..... lol.
