They make a 044 cover it just shows up as the 500i. Did Stihl make a West coast for it?

Anybody have one of those fancy bernzomatic torches? I'm considering on for doing crankcases. 4000 or 8000 series?

I have 4000 with map that I will use occasionally to heat the area around the bearing pocket. Really only use it when things are very stuck. For removals only

Why not for putting it back together?

Yep, Stihl has a cover. They’re the same as the 460 and 660 covers. Just pricey

I prefer not to beat the crankcase together, I’ll just take it slow - crankcase halves in the toaster oven and bearings in the freezer, then use a crankcase tool (MattyO’s) to pull the crank through.
