Thank you very much for the information!
For the heck of it I tried to run it WOT with the choke on and it ran without cutting out like it's been doing .
Did another p/v test and its all good ..turned it over a few times and it holds p/v
I'm kinda stumped here 🤔
Anyone have any other ideas ?
I'm still not sure it's the coil because everything I have been reading is the failure happens when it gets hot or doesn't start at all .
This starts rite up and idles all day just dies at full throttle and shuts rite off .

Thanks very much
Ernie
Does it restart after shutting off?

Fuel delivery issue!

I had this behavior on my 6HP 4-stroke walk behind lawn mower this spring.
It would die on WOT, but miraculously run with full power without spitting black smoke on WOT+Choke for the first 3-4 uses of the season.
I ran it like that and basically wrote the mower off if I'd fry it because of it.

Within the same month there was a similarly spec-ed mower on sale in one of my local supermarkets - I bought one.

My old mower suddenly fixed itself and I have been running it all summer with no issues other than the blade being worn.

The new mower has not yet been out of its cardboard box, lest been fueled nor ran.

I thought a fuel delivery issue also but it's a new line and filter ...I'm fairly certain the line the same I.D as the original but I'll have to make sure...could be starving it for fuel if it's smaller .

Thanks
Ernie

Well the larger fuel line didn't solve the problem .
I'm gonna take the carb apart again and spray it down with carb cleaner ...could be a blockage somewhere.

Thanks
Ernie

I had a DCS 5030 ( UK 51505) do this as Shane said, messed with it for ages, convinced it was a carb issue, Shavey lent me a carb and coil to try, coil solved it! I grabbed a DCS5121 of mine a few weeks ago to do a bit of firewood, trying to rotate saws, hadn't been used since last year when it ran fine cutting a few cords, laid up with Aspen, started fine but would not rev clean and throttle response was poor, cutting out, restated ok each time, would idle no problem, put a Chinese coil on it which I have for diagnosis and ran fine, back to normal!

Well my problems continue with this 6100 ....
I bought a cheap aftermarket coil to try and low and behold it didn't make a difference BUT after taking the aftermarket one off and assembling back with the OEM I ran into another problem..
KIMG20250915_175600091.JPG
Tightened with a 3/8 air ratchet and pulled the threads of the crank 😭
Now I'm in for a crank replacement and still have what I'm fairly certain now is a carb problem.

Sorry to say this, but in my book that is now a parts saw. :(

If You can find another parts 6100 with a good crank & carb You can assemble one running saw and have some spare parts left.

This is why I do not undo threads on chainsaws unless I really have to.

Have one size smaller thread machined onto it and a custom nut made?

Would certainly take a skilled machinist to do it.

That conical seat for the flywheel doesn't look right, its surface should be smooth and not as pockmarked as yours.
To me it looks like the saw has been tampered with in the past. Could be the reason for messed up threads.

It's very possible it was ...
I purchased the saw with a lot of missing parts so I can't really be sure of its history.
Im to far into this saw rite now to just use it for parts .
I'm gonna find a good used crank and change it out ... probably a bad idea but just the way I am ..lol

Not all of our decisions are financially justified 😎 look at old cars and don't ask about old planes 😉 and yet people have them more for satisfaction
