Unfortunately the 6100 is unique to herself regarding most parts.

My speculation is that if they had continued, there would have been other variants of that saw. They left extra room for a larger muffler for sure.

I do not think so, the 6100 is just a lone wolf.
It feels like they wanted to get rid of the PS-6400, but also make a run at Strato to comply with exhaust regulations.

They did release the Strato PS-550 (EA5600), which I love very much!

To my knowledge a functional Strato 81cc prototype was in existence.
Then Makita shut down all internal combustion OPE production and everything related to it got scrapped & destroyed!

The PS-550 & PS-6100 are production unicorns, next to no interchangeable parts with other saw models.
