I finished fixing up my Makita MDE400 this afternoon.
Wasn't much to do after all, a thorough cleansing, new diaphragms for the carb
and a new starter rope.
Gave her a brand new Sugi Hara bar for the looks :eusa_dance:
Might try to get a better looking sprocket cover, but no hurry ...

Nice little runner she is with "Star & Go" I have always missed for the european spec 39 cc little Dolmars

Hi,

I replaced the oil and fuel cap. The same as the Husqvarna 562xp, 440,445.....caps. Do not need any tools to remove.
Not bad at all.

That is the nice thing about it. Fits like it is made for it and looks exactly the same. No more chance of flooding the engine.
I use it on my 7300/7900 and husky 372xp since I have a lot of modern saws with an automatic switch. When you are used to a switsch like that, you easily forget to turn it to the on position.

I see.....after stop the saw the switch is automatically back to "on" position... like the regular vertical on-off switch.
It is good.....thanks the advice!

Tonight I was servicing the clutch on my 6100 and it seems a small, thin seal popped out of the needle bearing…other saws don’t seem to have these seals…no biggie?

I didn’t think to take one. When I reinstalled the clutch, as I slid it onto the crank, the seal got caught in the E clip Groove and stayed there.

I googled pics of Dolmar clutch bearings and don’t see a seal so far.

As far as I can recall there is no needle bearing "seal"!
I might be wrong though as I am mostly saving my MMWS6100 from excess work.

I would take a second look at that needle bearing.
Maybe it is falling apart.

I can take pictures of my 6100 clutch cover needle bearing no sooner than tomorrow PM after work.
