Anybody happen to have a pair of dogs like this they are willing to sell? Preferably someone in Europe. View attachment 320850

In Hungary it is available. The local Makita head office has. But very expensive...... unundestandable why app. 40 euro.
Try to get from the Belgium Makita head office.

I got from one of my Hungarian chainsaw forum mate,he made it. Same size, but thicker, stronger.

My favorite on this saw series.

I got two sets from the US, which is Your best bet since they tend to uprade their saws to the larger US Style 2 spikes.

Good luck.

I think you have the set from my 6421 Wilhelm. They just don't have good grip on the bark here. I replaced them with stock 7910 us spikes. These are awesome!

Yes, one Klingon spike set came from You.
Thank You so much!!! :)

Another Klingon spike set came from Brandon @computeruser during my newb days over at AS, he took them off a NIB saw of his and sent them to me, a stranger, no charge!
Thank You very much Brandon!

A third spike set , US Style 2, came from Michael @3browns , free of charge.
Thank You very much Michael!

There are some very generous members here.
I believe someone will be able to help out @Stefaan sourcing a Klingon spike set.

Maybe I should look into milling spikes as a future project, once I am fed up and done with bar adapters. o_O

As always you are very welcome

I consider it an even trade for all the Dolmar knowledge you have passed down over the years

Merry Christmas my friend

Anybody happen to know the parts numbers for the felling dogs? Can't seem to find them.

Part no. : 038250211

But the problem is, that it it only the "outside" spike!
The "inside" spike has a different part no. ! I wrote down somewhere, but I can find.:shakehead:
If you can not find ,let me know and I call the Makita head office again and they knows.

Left to right , small EU , US Style 1 , US Style 2:

- small EU , inner = 038 250 020 / superseded by = 038 250 021 , outer = 957 250 060

- US Style 1 3-point (NLA) , inner = 380 250 200 / superseded by = 038 250 202 , outer = 038 250 210 / superseded by = 038 250 212

- US Style 2
5-point , inner = 038 250 222 , outer = 038 250 232

Dolmar PS-64-73-79xx spikes (3).JPG

Unless old stock or after market/custom , the US Style 1 3-point spikes are NLA - there appears to be a remaining stock of outer spikes though.

The small EU and large US Style 2 5-point spikes are current and in stock.

Wasn’t there a 4-point set offered for a short while, too? I remember buying one but being unable to ever secure the other (inner, outer, I don’t recall). I’ll have to dig out my spike stash and check one of these days.

It is strange...because of the 035250211 part no. is works for sure.
What is the reason to find different numbers?

Wasn't that a black colored set from Baileys?
I have been trying to get my hands on a set for years.

The ones I posted are the only OEM ones that I know of.

Just different IPL's!
The "211" is most likely superseeding "202" and got superseeded by "212".
It is certainly a valid part number, just not up to date.

There is absolutely no change in the part itself, why they keep changing the part numbers on a whim is beyond my reasoning.

Yes, those where the pro safety brand. I had them on my first 6421 I sold. Those where really well built.

1FA41826-6E3C-4546-B11B-AB9C2F1A24A0.jpeg Yes they do, the oil captures the very fine particulate in dry wood that’s the problem the 500i was having issues with the very fine stuff was getting threw the filter system wasn’t sealing properly around filter base

I know it probably depends on a lot of factors like the wood you are cutting or humidity etc, but do they need to be cleaned and oiled reguraly?

All depends on how much u cut ,type of wood , ur conditions , etc the Pacific NorthWest Fallers like the system that’s kinda how it originated , and that’s some of the best proof there is , they don’t need a lot of oiling just a light coating every time u clean them
