Hi all,

I have a pp4620avx and I'm looking for an IPL for the carburetor. I have google'd several diagrams but nothing with the part numbers and descriptions. I want to take the carb off and give it a good cleaning. I also want to know how to adjust the carb. I know that these saws aren't thought of very highly, but it is perfect for what I need it for, which is the occasional cutting down smaller trees and cutting wood gifted to me to cut up then split for firewood.

tia,
s4l

It should have a Walbro WT-657. Here's an IPL from Walbro.

The setting for the carb should be set as the following and then tune form there.

Low idle mix needle (the one closest to the intake) 1-1/2 turns out from lightly seated.

High speed mix needle (the back needle) Start with two turns out.

Link to IPL https://walbro.force.com/Store/ccrz__ProductDetails?sku=WT-657-1&cclcl=en_US

Not a bad little saw. If you treat it gently it should last for years.

I just inherited a Poulan 330 Pro chainsaw from a customer. I don’t know much about the saw, and I would appreciate some help from those of you who know these things. The saw seems to be in decent shape, but I haven’t torn into it yet. If it’s not beyond repair, I would like to freshen it up and port it. Anyone know what bar these things use? I have small & large husky bars as well as large mount Stihl bars. I could modify one of my Husky bars, but I would rather find the right thing. Also, what is the best place to get parts for these things?462879F6-84D3-4364-B5FA-506434B07E4F.jpeg

I believe its A041.
If the small Husky fits the studs, you know its 8.2mm at least.

Nice saw.
I have read (no personal experience) that a 60cc, pp365 engine will fit that chassis also, if yours is doa.
That would be fun! Lol

So I picked up a popular 1950 today. It does not have a chain brake on it. it says on the stick that it passes the 2000 emission certification. The guy said he has tricked it out. Don't know what he did but you can berry it in wood and it won't quit. It has impressed me. And no I and not cutting red wood with it. Just oak

2020 Oregon catalog says it takes a K041 bar. 3/8 pitch available in 20" only.
K041's in .325 pitch are more common with more bar lengths available and that may be the pitch the saw is set up for.

Weak spot on the saw is the bar pad area. Lots of them caved in when the clutch cover is tightened down and the chain adjuster isn't into the bar hole.

Parts are not plentiful.
I don't own one but they are apparently a really great saw.

A fellow brought in a saw last week with the toolless chain tensioner that was broken, go figure. I found a more conventional cover with a brake for him in the attic and I kept his broken one to see what I could come up with. I made a few modifications to turn it into a useful piece again.

I will note that considering the time involved, this is now a $50 cover...

@farminkarman.

I edited the post while you were reading it. Have a look again as the saw was likely issued with a .325 pitch Ko41 that has a lot more bar options.

You may be able to adapt a small mount husky bar. I believe the Ko41's oil through the adjuster hole.

Hard to put a price on time fixing up chainsaws. It is fun for the hobbyist.
Nice work there Mark.

I may have a NOS bar for it. I'm out of town working. I'll look when I get back Saturday or Sunday.

I picked up this pair of yellow saws today. One ran last year but didn’t oil, the 2nd was bought as a parts saw for the oiler but the owner never swapped them.

Both started with a squirt of fuel but wouldn’t stay running. I checked compression and they’re at 120 and 130 which seems ok for the 3400 based on my research.

I was originally hoping to make one runner out of them but now I’m thinking I’ll go for 2. I don’t have any questions for you all for now but thought I’d share my fun project I picked up for Xmas break.

Here's a head start. Best written repair manual I've ever seen.

Are the LRB kits for Poulan any better than the ones they make for the McCulloch? You can't use the wrist pin with the piston supplied with the piston as it is too small for the connecting rod and will just fall out. Seems to be O.K. if you reuse the original wrist pin for a good press fit in the rod.
