Just my opinion, but most of the chains seems dull out of the roll. I always use a file or my granberg precision grinder on a new chain.

And with this size of bar, on a 80cc or a ported 73cc saw, you have to set down the rakers. With a stock RS or EXL chain, even a 60cc saw will scream in this size of wood.

I personally think it’d make sense for a ported 73cc saw to outcut a stock 79cc. And both saws need to have the same bar and chain to make it as even as possible. There’s other variables but that’d make for a long post. I think it’s all in the chain for the most part.

I had the chance to try this saw, and honestly, the saw is almost perfect... Except for the stock power.

I guess a good porting job will make an amazing saw.

No reason to act like a spoiled leftist. Most of us are here to get information. You have a meltdown when someone mentions Echo and Stihl in the same breath. Did you not see the part where the same b&c was used? Maybe the Stihl was so slow because of the Echo bar...LMAO.

Chill out, grow up, and let's talk like adults.
don’t be calling me a leftist and don’t be trying to spread your *B-S....
The echo may be ahead by some right now
But I still say he was running the 500i like Jmssaws did
And wasn’t allowing it to actually cut
So go back to ass site or *f-wordbutt and spread your *B-S.... there

I agree the video looks fake. I own the 500i (x2) and my saws will cut concrete faster than that one did on that log. At first I thought he was digging into a crotch or something, with the dust and all and you can see where the tree has been cut to shape. Even so, shoulda cut faster than that. I call BS. on the video in the most friendly way.

If it was your video, I’d give it another chance with it run-in and adjusted & with EXL chain.
Out of the box and unadjusted they have notably lower power.
Sure, porting makes a lot more difference as well but box stock it is very far away from stock :)

When the 500i first hit the shelf at the dealer closest to me he priced it with a 28” light bar for $1215. It’s probably more now, I think MSRP is $1349.

The saw I used was well tuned and had something like 20 tanks through it.

I used c85 chain, I think EXL won't make much difference (actually, it will just be slower, c85 is the fastest chain on the market actually (JMHO).

Honestly, I was more surprised by my old 572 running close to my ported 7900(a longer bar on both saws will tell another story, of course)
