I’m not a fanboy of the 500i... I would just buy the 462 and save the 300 bux if I was a stihl guy lol. 500i a good running stock saw but it’s a hell of a price to pay for what your getting. But that said... I would be disappointed if a woods ported saw couldn’t beat a stock one of a similar size class. It should.

500i isn’t a race horse at all. 462 is faster with a shorter bar. 500 just has a pretty flat power curve and is user friendly when using the dogs

I know what you mean. You would think for $1500 Stihl could have given its owners the "value" they deserved on air filtration.

i get it.. but the possibility of eliminating fuel delivery issues of a NA Carb is a pretty powerful enticement... carbs suck for the fuels we have available affordably nowadays... doesnt take too many carb issues for a guy not familiar with the inner workings of one before the "costs" equal out

Ported saw vs stock 5~cc difference. Mitch dosent build them for speed, otherwise he wouldn't bother testing with 60-70 second cuts...

Stock for stock, yes. Less expensive, better air filtration, best fuel efficience, lighter.

He should have a new chain on both
But in the video it is throwing dust not chips
And the saw is screaming like it is either pulling a dull chain or being held up

that chunk of wood can’t be that hard especially being a fresh looking piece
And him complaining about the price is retarded especially after him saying he got the lightweight 28 inch bar
