Is there any other difference than the rear handle? In my quest for a 80DX I ran across to variations so I did a thing...
Tank to handlebar bracing, decals, and model number are different. Otherwise its an SP 81. The DX Series were export saws sold mainly in the Asia market. Just very hard to find in North America. Is there any other difference than the rear handle?
Interesting that there is no chain brake. A late model sp81 like that would have one. It must not have been required by the the inport market. I wonder if that rubber on the rear handle is correct or wether it was put on by someone who didn't like the operator presence lever. In my quest for a 80DX I ran across two variations so I did a thing...

The IPL for the saws do in fact show the 1/2 clutch cover with the chain brake. These saws came from Vietnam so who knows what their life has been. The tags in the tanks are the correct model numbers but these saws are far from new. The cylinders and pistons are in good shape and the saws run, but they have been used by who knows how many hands. Just feel lucky I have them. I could change the clutch covers but I doubt I will. I though about changing the 1/2 wrap handlebar to a full wrap on one but I will likely leave them as they are.Interesting that there is no chain brake. A late model sp81 like that would have one. The rubber grip was standard fare on the CP/DX models. Both of mine came with the 1/2 wrap style handle bar.

I enjoy hafting them , to a desired handleI like your assortment of axes, I gave all mine to my son-in-law a while back. Collections according to my wife become accumulation's.
I noticed that none of theses models have holes drilled in the bottom of the handle underneath the trigger handle , for a bolt on hand/ boot pad.View attachment 446807
