797 had goop which is mostly cleaned out and the later model cap has hard rubber giving me the run around getting it out. When I get both cleaned up and decide which will get new valve , I just press fit in?

I assume you are talking about the duckbill valve in the fuel cap in your last post PN 53766 ?

Knightmax has them, I have them, and you can usually find them on eBay.

Remove the capillary seal, clean out the pocket with carburetor cleaner and a cotton swab, and be careful when you press the seal back in that you don't knock the center out of the fuel cap. I made a little tool to support the cap when I press the seal back in place.

Once again I thank you gentlemen for answering what must seem to you to be obvious. I have two caps but only one vent right now. Both have been cleaned out. Older style cap allows cleaner through brass filter whereas the 797 cap holds with no leakage.
Thinking in this instance I would want leakage as there needs too be air flow but not sure.

That sintered metal plug (or capillary seal) is supposed to breathe so if you have one that is completely plugged, you need to soak it in carburetor cleaner or run it through an ultrasonic cleaner to open it up before using it.

Pop that plug out, install the duckbill valve with the lips pointing towards the tank, and press the plug firmly back in place once it is clean.

Pretty painless all said, really cleaned it up. The brass filter has Quite the patina on it. Letting it soak in cleaner. Small film of moto seal around lip when I replace and let set.

Lol, with chainsaws...that is easy enough to do!! I have bookmarked the site, definitely stuff for my 10-10s, will have to look at the other gaskets to see if they will work with a D44 or 200. Thanks for the link!

$60 sounds high for shipping a decal. I have had larger things shipped from Europe for less than that.
