The Super 797 belongs to a local fellow. Carburetor kit and a new carburetor gasket turned it back into a runner, replacing the 1-7X oil tank with one from a 700 saw provided automatic oiling again.

The SP125 is mine now, but will need a lot of work to make it into a proper runner again.

The CP125 is a saw I put together from a tote full of parts from Sawfun. It would not run properly when I took it to Oregon and today I decided to try resolve the issue. I found the intake boot was not properly fit over the intake on the saw which was a relatively easy repair. Now starts, runs, and cuts as it should. I will give it some regular exercise until I take it back to Oregon next year unless someone offers me $2,500 for it in which case I will split the cash with Don.

The S797 has been repainted so don't get too excited.

Dose that cp have a metal id tag on the tank? Curious for science

I will have a look when I am back over in the building but I don't think there was any serial number tag on this one.

Thanks Mark, I didn’t wanna prompt the science too much, that is kind of what I was guessing?

Nice work Mark - It'll be interesting to see what you come up with on that SP project.

Mark/Nathan - Did the early CPs even come with a model tag/serial tag? The reason I ask, is I have an early CP here that was gifted to me by a member and it doesn't
look like a tag was ever installed. There's a hole for the tag screw but there's no marks in it like there was ever a screw there.

Still developing a theory on that, most of tanks I see don’t have a tag, or impression for a tag, and I feel they are replacement tanks. But idk. Without getting the cat out of the bag, I am guessing Marks tank is a replacement, because of the high idle hole, if it had a tag, it would be history and super interesting for a standard cp, have seen a few late cp125s with it, I guess I am kinda obsessed

I have only seen a couple late CP125s with a tag and high idle detent. It would be interesting to see if any of the early non-S models have the idle detail, or else I’m guessing 99.9% are replacement tanks, which is also cool history, but the factory still painted CP tanks during the SP production line, kinda cool

The SP125 may need to take a trip out to Granite Bay as the compression is pretty low. I need to find the rear shroud or come up with a way to replace the nuts as they are both missing on that one. I can come up with a better muffler and cover from the stuff I have on hand. The clutch cover has the bottom corner with the third spike hole broken off but it may just have to do until something better comes along.

JJ - any chance you still have an 84121 throttle trigger that will work with the throttle lock for a CP125?

Mark -

I got the trigger and I got a better clutch cover for you if you want it. I have extra SP mufflers as well if anyone is in need.

It has the boss for the high idle, but it was not drilled out. I made a sort of drill guide and drilled it, then noticed the throttle trigger did not have the provision for the speed screw. JJ is taking care of that for me.

You might be surprised how well a bearing would seem to recover even if under water for a time .Case in point is the pair of Partner p-100's I resurrected from the dead .I had no idea of one was hung on the bearings so I jacked the cylinder off the piston then split the cases .After a dip in some kerosene the complete rotating assembly indicted no spalled balls .You have to remember the balls plus the inner and outer races are chrome plated but they will fill up with rust ,crud etc. and appear to be hung up . On a clean bearing it's real easy to feel if a ball has gone south .

You fellas are lucky.
There are no trees down here big enough to justify having a saw that big, or there werent back in the day.
I cant say that id NEED one either, but I still WANT one. :p
Just cant justify the funds necessary to buy one at the prices they bring these days to use as a play thing.:(
