Bob Johnson is one of their McCulloch suppliers.

I figured it was either Bob or Woody, which is ironic, because last time I contacted Bob (several years ago), he said he was pretty much sold out of 125 stuff.

I'm sure they have (or had) multiple sources for Mac stuff. They're only about 45 minutes from me. Pretty weird group with a seriously mixed bag of customer reviews and I can see why. I've called there twice. Once I got Mr. Hyde. The other I got Mrs. Jekyll.

There's an Ebay seller, 310dawg, that has some gaskets. I've bought a few things from them, like replacement reeds for some of the specialty manifolds, and they've been pretty good.

Otherwise, I just buy that Felpro Karropak gasket material by the roll at NAPA. I think it's about .020". Some Autozone stores sell a high-heat gasket material that's about 2mm thick
which is suitable for exhaust gaskets and shields on some of the McCulloch saws.
I buy header gasket material by the sheet. Made by Cometic. Perfect for exhaust gaskets.

Bob Johnson is where I got the big black 10-15 pound book of Mac stuff from .I think his daughter was selling a bunch of stuff on flea bay at the time .I've called several times over the years but never had any luck finding anything .Fox Valley kart is another one .Trying to explain that some parts from a 101 will fit a Mac 125 .That was about as successful as having a conversation with a fence post . I was looking for a set of reeds but later found them on flea bay .
Randys engine service in I think Seamans Ohio has some stuff ,a little high on price though on some things ,some not bad .
Mike Acres did have some stuff but you about need to get him on the phone because nobody else knows where they are at .I got all the stuff I needed for one of the 125's I made a cast iron liner for .
I'm not sure if Fayetteville Equipment repair in New York State still has any parts left or not .
There's Bryce in St Marys Washington . Robert Andrews "Rotax Robert " had been there and says it's amazing the stuff this guy has . What ever became of Rotax I have no idea .
Rich Dougan.AKA "sawking " which is where the Homelite 2100S in my avatar came from .I don't think he still sells on flea any more but might on Craigs list . Roseburg ,Rosebud ,maybe Myrtle Creek something like that Oregon .JJ would know better than myself .

I just got off the phone with Bob a few hours ago. He was a really nice guy to talk to! Called to see if he had a piston for the old model 73, no joy there. Sent an email to that Randy Duncan fella out of Ohio and one to Mike Acres as well. Might give Bryce Stott a call too. Not sure what other avenues I can pursue aside from trying to have one custom made. Something tells me I'm going to have to wait until one surfaces. One of the first things Bob asked me was where I was from and I told him Idaho and so of course he asks "Got some good potatoes out there?" I had to laugh because it seems like that's always the first thing people ask.

I almost forgot Dan Henry ( Dozer Dan ) in McClure Pa .At one time he had barn fulls of old parts but he might have sent the last of them to me in 5 gallon buckets .Quite frankly I'm not sure what's in that mess but I know not a big McCulloch piston .
Maybe 6-8 years ago or so or longer
Dan called me up looking for an unloader valve for a 10 HP air compressor which I didn't have .I told him how to make one using a check valve , a solenoid valve and a timer. Last I heard from him .

Just for curiosity I looked on flea bay for Mac 73 parts .Much to my surprise they listed piston rings ,Cabers no less . What if anything like another piston would work I have no idea although I probably have the part numbers .Those are on a micro fiche slide I think .

I must admit there was/is some interesting stuff like a rebuild kit for the oil pump on a Mac 15 plus one of those gravity feed carbs like a Tilley HL with no fuel pump .A couple of solid state ignitions like fit on a PM 610 and likely a few more .One bucking spike for a 650 gear drive . Couple of new flywheels I have no idea what they fit . I'll have to dump those buckets and take inventory after it warms up .Horse trading stuff I suppose but have no need for a hay burner .
You keep on keeping you soon end up with so much stuff unless you are tidy like Mark you can't keep up with it .It's not if but rather where is it ?

Yep I still have the old one. It's a shame most of it is pretty good except for the two large cracks running vertically up the skirt. The original part number was 28885 and the replacement part number is 47580. The old Homelite 7-29 & 8-29 have the same size piston but the con rod bosses look much wider. They may also have a domed top. I know the two man 7-55 has the same size piston but I have no idea how close it would match up. Regardless of these things they seem to be just as difficult to find as the model 73 piston. As far as modern available pistons im not having great luck.. I had been looking at the possibility of taking a similar Honda or Wiseco piston and doing a little machining on them to make em work but what I have found just doesn't seem to be real feasible.

I've been purging stuff like crazy. I'm not using it. Have no need for it. Been giving most of it away to people that can and will use it. Just tired of it taking up space and fumbling over it.

I attempted to cross match that piston by looking on the micro fiche with no luck .The micro set was dated 1998 or about the time big Mac circled the drain .It's a big piston 2.5o35" . However a 20 over ring set for a model 99 is 2.5124 which would be just as hard to find a piston for . The ring set on flea bay named the other models but my info doesn't go back that far .It may help to do a flea bay search and check it out . I'm not certain if the big black book covers it but the McBob CD might .I'll take a peek in a day or two .

I need PN 69629. I have paypal ready if anyone can help me out.

Kevin - post up some photos of what you have and how it does not fit. I will compare your photos with some I have uncovered in the move.

northwest - I am pretty sure I have a 73 parts saw in the attic but I have no idea what the piston may look like. It could be a few weeks before I can get to it to know for sure. Check back with me from time to time if you can't find one elsewhere.
