One of my 125's has an offset key . Somebody had a freakin Atom Arc on it which I removed and reconnected the points but can't remember if I opened the points up a tad bit or not .No big deal as it runs just fine ,starts easy .At least it did the last time I used it ,which has been some time ago .

In summary, 10 Series sawdust screens, large frame left hand start sawdust screens, 300 Series air box/carburetor cover, 10 Series handle inserts, SP105/125 handle clamps, and now the SP105/125 handle inserts.

Yellow parts are all painted and ready to assemble. I need to get all the black sandblasted and painted. I did them but they turned out looking like a crap sandwich.

Looks good!
I know you are making this one for a "wall hanger", but maybe just do the extra work to put the gaskets in working order and the carb. Fire this beast up, use it for a few seconds, and you will know that it wasnt made to look at. They are nice to admire, but made to work! Make it look nice if you want, but these things are still legit workhorses, even today. This one I pulled out of a garbage dump and put a new bar and chain on cut a load of wood last weekend. It still has work to do, because thats what they were made for. 1213191826a_HDR.jpg

Ok, so maybe this isn't all that great, but I guess I got into this habit by necessity. My family comes from the "sticks" of Notheast GA. There was a Mac D30 that I personally ran years after it was retired for the 1010S that was my grandfather's and his first cousins only power saws. I havent found a buzz saw or any other means of cutting wood on the property, so I'm assuming that they used hand saws before that. Granted, its not that cold down here, but I remember some days the ground was frozen, so it did get cold. Old house was like a barn with no insulation, so a fire in the wood heater did feel nice.
I dont even have to worry about building a fire if I don't want to, its just nice to know I was able to make that warmth and not the power company.
I idolized my grandfather and the way he made his life and the way he saw fit to live it. He and the rest basically saved the world as we all know it, and we owe them at least a little bit of respect and reflection. What they did worked, and worked well. No reason not to like it, just hard to duplicate now.
Maybe I try to pay my respects by keeping a few pieces of Robert McCullochs innovation alive. Here is that 1010S that my grandpa had. He was the last person to use it. Ive handled it, but haven't tried to start it or use it...yet.0513191541b.jpg

Oh, the clothes dryer its sitting on recently went to my sons house to replace the one they had that was ailing.
We have the same dryer that was given to us years ago, and it's still going strong.
Sometimes the older stuff is the best. Lot of those companies worked themselves out of business by making a superior product.

The only way my wife would allow it in the house is if it were completely clean and no oil/ gas. I dont "need" it to run. I ha e a 385xp, 372xp, 562xp and dont really "need" them either. I just keep our farm clean with them. So its ok for this one to stay non running. I am looking for another Mcculloch ( or many ) as a project or a runner to play with.

Its posible advanced timing in points y condencer or only electronic ignition? Regards
It depends on how much your points gap is set and how much work you would want to do, and why you would want to do it? It depends if the point are crankshaft operated or flywheel? On the 125 .018 points gap will usually get you 26° degrees of advance, but not always, have seem 28° to 21° depending on the crankshaft and most of the time you can’t get more the .021 points gap without be open all the time. To me, and many will disagree..advance the ignition is much easier with an ignition chip and adjusting the flywheel key. I haven’t had and issue with them, most people complain with a 5° advance flywheel and the chip, but when converting to a chip with a 5° advance flywheel you need to retard the flywheel to maintain stock timing..,otherwise it will be difficult to start. Chip failure can be an issue too, but the instructions are pretty clear that you need 6” of ground lead, apparently that is super critical to the design, short leads kill chips. 5°is to much to start a 125 easily. With the standard flywheel and chip a 125 starts easy and runs great, my kart macs run great with a chip and haven’t had a failure yet! lol this mac is running a chip

Local online auction has a couple macs I'm scoping out. On is the eager beaver 2.0 with original hard case. I want that for sure. Fits my collection style. Anyway there is the other....FR2.1 with 16" bar. Anyone have any information? Worth even looking into? Thanks in advance.

The mini macs are the only small macs im interested in but i wont pay much for them. 5 bucks complete and non running. A good running one i may pay 20 for. Any mac saw with alot of plastic i wont even look at. Just my opinion. :)

Think I have one of those 2.1s that I gave my dad for parts. I think ot was missing the choke plate and a few other odds and ends. My late FIL had it. Had a big "R" branded into it. I had it running years ago.
I'm kinda with Steve. Just like the metal ones, but they are all part of the story.

I have done work on the 140 minis which are not nearly as bad for working on as a 110-120 models . I think the saw in a turtle shell thing was just a cheaper way of making a saw during that time period because Homelite did it too .

An 850 is another one I might be able to save but haven't got to it yet .I think I can save the cylinder , the piston is toast .Most of the "skin " is okay, some needs replaced.I bought it in rough condition just to get the entire engine for an 805 which runs very well .I'll have to clean and mic the cylinder to find out what bore size it is .The B and C cylinders aren't that hard to find but an A size is .

Yeah. Not too many 'spare' 850's just laying around. LOL

Thought I'd ask just in case. Ya never know...

Keep looking Poge. I have a few saws I knew I'd never get at ta reasonable price and one day the popped up. Sometimes you just get lucky. You do have to move lightning fast when they strike though.

I waited three years to find an Orange Poulan 4000.
