On that pump .If I'm not mistaken that screw limits the throw or movement of the diaphragm .More throw more oil .

If I back this screw out and pump I get some oil. When I turn it back in, no oil.View attachment 197540

The screw on the left, slotted and hex, is the oil adjustment screw. I believe, screw it in, no oil, screw it out, more oil. Mine are all fairly sensitive to adjustment, but nowhere near as sensitive as my 10-10's are. So you shouldn't have to move it much to see a difference, one way or the other.

Ah, I see it now! Been awhile since I changed mine out, and didn't notice it right away. They are cheap enough, might as well!

I disassembled it and soaked it in diesel. I poked wire up to where the check valve is and it had some spring play, it only allowed air to flow one way. I replaced the O ring on the manual plunger. There was one hole clogged, the little brass one. It seems as though it primed but wasn't allowing air in. It felt like it was pumping but nothing came out until i loosened that screw enough for air to leek in.

Actually a 610 is a cheap option for a firewood cutter and they are durable also .

I wasn't dissin' em. Just pointing out they're a dime a dozen. They're indeed a solid value for what most are going for these days. Just klunky..., which is probably why so many have survived and still run. And they will pull (and oil) a 24" bar.

Expensive here as well. I was fortunate enough to have a nice Timber Bear given too me. It was pretty much unused as the weight was an issue for the owners.

This is typical in my area for the FB Marketplace. More on CL as well. Most are under $100 around here. I have three or four and don't think I paid for any of them. McCulloch clearly had a very large retail footprint in northern Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan aimed squarely at the middle of the road consumer.

I had the same problem. Kept hearing about saws on facebook so i broke down and joined. All i look at is the market place. I dont dont care for anything else on facebook. I bet my wife regrets me joining now lol. I picked up some good deals on ther.

I give her a hard time but she is pretty supportive so long as bills are paid and she gets to go out to eat twice a week.

I haven't checked the NW Ohio Craigslist lately but often they have some model of the 610 .It's just like flea bay , some think they have a real prize and others just want to be rid of it .As far as weight ,if you're bucking fire wood from a log it actually helps you in a way .Just wind it up and let go the reins ,it will dig right through on it's own .If you doing a lot of limbing it might wear you out .

I have paid more for some of my parts saws than I have for clean runners of the same variety. Also a difference in locale and what yhings are valued at in differt areas.

That's a fact! I don't even have a second hand market in my area, so I'm at the mercy of internet pricing if I'm looking for used saws or parts.

You have to remember where you are at .The PNW you can find large displacement saws .Parts of the midwest you have medium sized stuff and a zillion firewood cutters which is what a 610 is .
The same holds true for things like metal working tools .In this area which is a combination of agriculture and manufacturing there are all kinds of older stuff usually reasonably priced .You're not going to find these kinds of things say in the middle of Kansas or Arizona .

Then too it depends on what you want .For me it's got to be reasonably priced ,mostly intact and either rare or able to be modified if I desire to do so .On that some I do and some I don't .
Real antiques like a big old Mall model 7 I really have no desire to own but some do so it's just different strokes for different folks so to speak .
Not too long ago a model 800 Mac came up on Craigslist about 15 miles from me .Somebody else on here expressed an interest so I just backed off .I mean WTH I already had 2 81 CC Macs another one would just be one more I really didn't need .Clam shell Stihls I wouldn't spend a dime on ,they just don't interest me which is not saying they are bad firewood cutters just not my cup of tea .
