It's not chainsaws just a general statement .You can run yourself in circles and chase your tail finding rare parts .Thank heavens for the internet .In the last several days I found a new aftermarket water pump for my old Oliver bulldozer ,the pulleys and the V-belt .I had rebuilt that thing 35 years ago and at that time I had no idea where to find the bearing ,just changed the seals .I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did .With any kind of luck once it's done I'll never need to do it again .

After a new coil, rebuilt carburetor, fuel line, and I removed the oil tank to replace the oil line the oiler is not working. i tried not to clog the holes when assembling the tank. While its running the cap weeps oil from the pulse but nothing or very little on the chain. The manual oiler seems stuck. Im thinking the tractor supply bar oil may be to thick. Anyone have an idea?

You could possibly try old techniques and cut it some with kerosene. But it could also get to a flaming fun if you cut to close to the warming fire.

As far as the manual oiler being stuck, I've had the rod that goes into the oiler out of line just a bit and it got hung up. So give that a try maybe.

I say stuck, probably not a good description. Feels more like something is blocking the oil from exit the tank. So I'm pushing the button and it moves just not like it should. I picked this saw up non running so it could be a preexisting problem.

Something is cloged on the outlet side of the manual pump. Be that a check valve or just filled with sawdust. The auto pump pulls oil through the manual pump. Flow goes tank, pick up line, manual pump, auto pump, bar pad. Try taking the pumps off and blowing compressed air through all the passages. That will tell you if you cloged the passages with sealer. If its all ok then clean or replace the pumps. The 600 series have problematic pump. Best to replace them if the passages are clear.

Those damned pumps drive me nuts .A few years back I bought several for 10 bucks a pop and should have bought more .The guy on flea bay had over 1000 of those things .
I think I have 3 PM 610's and I think they all work but I haven't fired any up in a long time .If they went funky I have two more new ones in a drawer some place if I can find them .

I have a 610, 605 and timber bear. I cut down a mature pecan tree a couple months ago with the 610 and it did well. I've got a bunch of saws to use but I was pleased with the 610. A little on the heavy side. I've had the pump apart but I can't remember if I poked anything through the holes. New pumps are running $28 at the cheapest.

Actually a 610 is a cheap option for a firewood cutter and they are durable also .The one I bought for my son I think was 50 bucks, looked nearly new and needed a pump .Originally with a 20" bar ,some tools, file etc .they were right at $200 .Then K-mart sold a bare bones model with a 16" for $169.95 They've been abased over the years but you'd be surprised how many are still in service just not talked about .You might dub them a "closet saw" .

My favorite story about 610's was concerning my wifes ( RIP ) nephews from the Detroit area .They got on a firewood cutting kick with their buddies .The first I landed was 610 which totally amazed that crowd and ran circles around their wild things and 029 Stihls and over 30 years old .Then I landed the other one a 7-10 and that one shocked them all .I just smiled when they told me about it .

A little more derailing then lol. If anyone wants a good recipe for cooking rainbow trout try a box of uncle bens stuffing mixed on the dry side stuffed inside and wrap fish in tin foil. 25 mins per side and dam good eats.
