On that battery deal,a guy at work,Jim something rebuilt one with the replacement cells used in things like battery drills Said it wasn't a big deal to do .---Google----

Funny thing is he had put on a GTG a few years back near Venedocia Ohio and later worked where I do .He's been there a year and a half before I knew it .Looked me up one day and surprised me

Jim Rigdon. @boda65 Great guy. Has some nice Macs and put on a great GTG. Well attended by some of the regional AS heavyweights of the day. Macs were well represented.

I need a battery pack as well...
Where do you get the battery's to build the pack?
Thanks

I they are sub-C nickel cadmium cells. I used 10, 800mA cells in series to get 12 volts. You can source them online or get them at a hobby store. Make sure you get the ones with tabs, it's easier to solder them all together.

Jim got either a 797 or a 795 Mac from somebody on this site and as yet has not had the time to go through it .He got caught up in the "gold rush " like the rest of us from nearly unlimited over time . He used sub c cells on his battery rebuild .I priced them on the net from some jobber in Mansfield Ohio ,like a couple bucks a pop .Had the bright idea of rebuilding some DeWalt 18 volt batteries for my battery operated stuff but since have collected more than I'll likely use in the next 5 years .

Age is only a state of mind:zpong: That picture is the 805 with an 850 engine stuffed under the shrouding .Twas a sad day indeed when after rebuilding the 805 engine I somehow straight gassed it with a primer bottle . Sh---er things happen .

Man I bet that was a sad day, couldn't imagine that feeling. If I would of rebuilt it a little straight gas wouldn't of made much of a difference.

It had been running .I dropped a dead 24" maple with it .Then for no reason it died . Primed it ,ran about 2 minutes and tied up .I've got the engine, cylinder can be saved, piston is toast .No big deal .As soon as I find a piston instead of an 805 with an 850 engine it will be an 850 with an 805 engine .It's rather low on the priority list at the moment

Hey Folks.
Id love to restore and build a fast 99cc mac just for the experience.
I think as a saw enthusiast its something worth doing.
Im thinking 99cc as the 125's are just too damn hard to find and expensive cause its what most people want.
Im thinking pipe saw.

What do you Mac experts recommend?

Try to find a 795, NOS pistons and cylinders are out there and the basic design makes them relatively easy to modify. Biggest trouble area is trying to improve on the carburetor and intake, not a lot of room under the hood.

But in the meantime, I finally scored a 10-10S..., a crazy clean one. So I'm just gonna gloat on the Mac threads for a while myself today. LOL This saw was an Ohio Dept. of Wildlife unit. Just an exceptional find that came my way by a tip from @old 040 who's not too far from me and was nice enough to alert me to its availability. A million thanks, my man.

10-10s is a 57 cc model like the PM55, 555, and 570. I have a couple as well, at least one in very good condition and they are nice saws to use even without AV. That said, I also have a PM55 (short clutch cover with the brake) which is my favorite little saw with a 16" bar. The Jonsered 2050 is lighter but I get tired of waiting for it to get through a log. With the PM55 there is no waiting...

Cool. Would be interested in a PM850 project if there's one buried there somewhere in the mix!

Very nice collection you purchased , could there be a few Italian built macs in there somewhere
Or maybe a double eagle 80 in that pack
