Since we are a few pages behind some other brands and I have a minute, I'll add some McCulloch photos.

I once had a NOS PM6 that I decided to sell for some reason, should never have done that.

DSC00606.JPG

Not quite as nice but I did pick up a decent late model PM6 last year as well as an early one with the banana handle.

Who doesn't love a Mini Mac? This is one of the early models without the removable starter. To get the engine out of the housing you have to have the flywheel lined up just so with the starter "clutch" and rotate a bit on the way out. Pull the rope out a foot or so before you start removing the engine so you have some room to rotate parts as needed

This is not a true McCulloch, but rather a saw "built in an Italian McCulloch factory"...

This might be the most pitiful saw I have in the entire line up.

DSC02020.JPG

I think Mweba gave me this one...and I thought we were friends.

A better Italian made "McCulloch" is the Double Eagle 50/Titan 50. The Titan 57 is just a bit more displacement in the same size package.

A step up from the Mini Mac is the SP 40 / PM510/515. They are essentially a Mini Mac with better anti-vibe and the ability to remove the carburetor without dismantling the entire saw.

I have a couple of the PM510's as well and one of the upcoming projects will be to get one decent one cleaned up and put together. I don't have and haven't seen the PM515 in person yet.

Just so ya know while I am somewhat a McCulloch affectionato the "mini" is not include in that .They are beyond a doubt to most unfriendly little saw to work on .Right ahead of the XL2 Homelite and 020 AV Stihl .

I will say this about the little mini .It ether runs well for a 2 cuber or it doesn't run at all .There's no middle ground on that one .Of the 4 I have the only one that runs has a tuned pipe on it .Probably the only one in existence .

How about the 10 Series saws? One of the earliest ones I picked up was a 1-10, this is another 1-10 that came to me recently with a worn out roller nose bar. Fortunately I had a NOS nose to put on it and keep it going. It still has a tendency to flood out so I need to rework the bullfrog again or switch to a different one.

I have a nice little 2-10 that came from Modified Mark, good runner but it gets neglected most days. In addition I have a Super 2-10A from Eccentric and a 2-10PS (Power Sharp) from Tylerjeep over on AS as well as a 2-10G model from Roger Bennett.

Pictures of the newly acquired LG-6 are back a page or two.

I have a few examples of the 3-10 including this 3-10DSP that came from the Hosky brothers and a 3-10E that at one time was fully functional but the batteries didn't last very long,

DSC00860.JPG

I also have a like new 3-10E courtesy of Mike Jackson. Mike's dad was an Engineer (electrical) at McCulloch and had access to a lot of interesting stuff. That is a similarly like new Super PM850 in the background.

IMG_1265.JPG

On the subject of the "E" saws, I also have a running 5-10E without batteries, and a couple examples of the 10-10E but neither are runners.

One of the holes in my collection is a nice running 4-10. I thought I had one purchased at one time, even sent the $100 to a fellow in the PNW from an AS connection but the saw never arrived. I have one on the shelf that I believe to be a 4-10 but I haven't bothered to check into it any further.

My 5-10 came from Drew Crane on AS, and features a genuine 10 Series rigid mount RH start full wrap handle bar.

McCulloch 5-10 2.jpg

I don't remember where the Super 6-10 came from but it is a nice running saw. Condition is too nice to use it regularly for firewood.

Super 6-10 1.jpg

The 7-10 is one of my favorite saws to run, and my later model with the pop up compression release makes frequent trips to the wood pile. I normally have a 20" bar on it these days.

McCulloch 7-10 4.JPG

I also have an early version of the 7-10 with the lever type compression release. I keep this one up on the shelf most of the time, guess I'll have to find some photos of the finished product.

McCulloch did a number of things with the 7-10 power head including a starter/charger, cut-off saw, and the power unit for a bomb hoist. This Lear unit had been refitted with a 10-10 power head and came to me by way of Joey Taylor.

DSC01418.JPG

The Entwhistle bomb hoist power unit with extended run fuel tank. Not visible in this shot is the outboard boat type fuel line connection on the back of the tank and the aircraft style spark plug connection.

DSC04949.JPG

Belgian (Roland) has a very nice Target version of the 7-10 cut off saw, the only one I've seen in person.

McCulloch had a few nice early 10 Series anti-vibe saws in the CP55, CP70, and CP70L.

The 10 series are my favorites of all the McCullochs .I have from mini Macs to SP 125's in my collection but those are still my favs .

Of the 10-10's I have several early models but I also have perhaps one of the very last of them that looks like a new one .I believe it's the 3.5 Cu In . version .Bought for a tree service and never used .--Freebie to boot .

Every so often you can find a pristine one .They just pop up when you least expect it .I have 3 .An Sp 105 that is on Mike Acres site,an 805/850 and that 10 10 .

Something I found amusing .Several years ago I was asked to find a good used saw for my dearly departed wifes nephew .Found a decent 7-10 that need a little work, carb I think .Less than 75 bucks, ran like a top .

He later remarked to me his buddies up near Detroit could not believe a 40 year old saw could out cut their 029's and wild things .--Little did they know .

Amazing.I found a jag of pictures on this thing .This is my wifes machine with Win 8 and I'm not used to it.My old machine has XP pro, that one I know .If it loads some pics of a few of the 10-10's .The one oldy has pipe insulation on the handle .we used to that so you could feel your fingers on those bone shakers after running them for ten minutes .For some reason the newer models didn't rattle as bad .

The CP70 was a RH start saw like many of the early 10 Series, the CP70L was a left hand start version of the same saw. As far as I know they were the same under the covers.

I had a young friend once borrow a saw to cut down a number of troublesome cottonwood trees so I loaned him a PM800 with 28" bar.

  • Sorry about the small photo but Jeff is around 6'1" to give some perspective.
I was busy that day with a project of my own.

The 82 cc 10 Series McCulloch saws were some of the very best the company ever made. I am very fortunate to have nice examples of every one except for the CP 80 DX.

The first in the series was the SP80.

DSC01929.JPG

DSC01938.JPG

This one came from Ex SW and has the original 3 shoe clutch. It was a bit rough when it arrived.

DSC06852.JPG

DSC07044.JPG

Cleaned up nicely. I added a 24" roller nose bar and set it up with McCulloch .354 chain.

The SP80 was followed by the SP81 and SP81E. There were early and late versions of both.

DSC03159.JPG

DSCN5750.JPG

The original SP81E had a two piece ignition. The later one piece coil is a direct replacement for the two piece set up. McBob reports that all of the SP81E models sold in Australia were recalled to have the two piece replaced with the one piece set up.
