Mike yours looks a model 308. Single stage cylinder.
Diverter rod and throttle cable mount in a different spot than mine but they operate the same way.

Like you said,
Lever forward engine goes wot and splits w/o holding the lever, goes full stroke, returns automatically and drops to an idle.

My 348 has a 2 stage cylinder, 2 diverter valves and a shift valve controlling the flow between the 2 cylinders.
You may have known all this already.

The part I was referring to in the last pic is the auto stroke block. Along with the auto stroke rod it will shift the lever back into the engaged position at the end of the return stroke without ever touching the lever.

My cycle is almost 20sec, would a 2 stage 16gpm pump help me?

I have a 7.5 HP air cooled diesel I'd love to put on it but its no longer made, and cold starts could be killer. It'd be sweet to have a Lil diesel splitter tho.

Pic of the diverters on a 348.
Bottom one controls the 3" cyl. Top one feeds the 5" cyl.

IMG_20160107_135134934-1024x576.jpg My Splitter is bigger than your Splitter! Had see some bigger logs I cut up for firewood so decided to take the 28000 pound excavator and split them up to an easier size to handle

I've done that b4. Dug a huge 3 stem cottonwood stump out with a 160. Too f'n big to pick up, had to whittle it down to 4-6" slabs.

I was able to buy from a dealer and pick it up, vs. having to have a SS shipped in. Really like both companies. Showrguy has an electric SS, it is so quiet, but I have to use mine in places without elect. available. Two guys can really make hay with these things. Unfortunately, I am always working solo. Still fast.

I've got a 37 ton Nothern Tool unit. It's a good machine, does all I want it to, honda motor was definitely worth the premium price!
I'll have to get pics tomorrow as it's sitting in the woods right now.
