And if there's any other framers, builders, trim folks, remodelers, let's hear it...always a good topic of discussion, and maybe we can create a homeowner, remodeling forum to help each other out.

I built houses for most of my life. I miss it some days, other days I'm glad I'm not on a 12/12 with a nail gun in my hand.......

Good morning gentleman. :)

Ever have a day when you jump up there and immediately know you don't belong up there. It's happened to me a couple times. Not sure why it happens but I'm cut guy when that happens.

Morning gents, good to catch an extra hour or so of sleep. Yeh, I'm one of those folks that even on a wknd, I get up around 6, 7 in the morning. 75 now heading to mid 90's again today. Got a little grass to finish up from yesterday, get it knocked out here directly. Looking like a little fish fry this afternoon...sentence about 20/25 bream to a 350 deg peanut oil bath, do some hush puppies, fries, and coleslaw as well. Enjoy your day folks, stay cool, be safe.

I was doing a house on Lake Sherwood that was about 50' in the back. Two sub levels, then two storys, with a 12/12 - 10/12 bastard hip roof. On the morning I was planning to start running the plywood on the roof, I woke up from a bad dream. I dreamed that I fell off the back of that house. It was so realistic, I remember thinking that I was a dead man.

Now that was a morning that I really didn't want to get on the roof.

That could make for a nervous day. Usually I can walk around up there like a squirrel in a tree. Carry the plywood across the roof like I'm walking on the ground. But a couple times I've gotten up there and I'm reaching for the rafters to stabilize myself... I know it's just not my day to be up there. I've got too much to go home to to risk it...

I think it's got something to do with age. I don't much like high anymore. I really don't like tight. Getting claustrophobic. Used to insulate crawl space houses now a small car gives me the creeps.

That's when you know you're pushing to hard. Had a few of those myself.

For me it's happened 4 or 5 times in my life. Feels like your first day on the roof. Awkward. Next day I'm good again.

Lost my footing on a toe board many yrs ago, on a 12/12...I had only seconds to sink the claw of my Estwing 22oz hammer in a sheet of 1/2" OSB as I was sliding...if it were not already in my hand when we were nailing off the decking, I'd a hit the ground. You couldn't have pushed a straight pin up my rear end the rest of the day.
