Cut silage for 3 days, the neighbor and I had a custom chopper come in and cut 125 acres of corn. Had 1850 feet of 10 foot bag, worst was about 80 bu. Best 130. I’ll guess at least I’ll have feed for the stock now . I got 1050 feet ,it will look really nice in about a month.
The cattle will do real well on it this winter, just make sure you pull some soil samples this fall.
I don't know if your area is as potassium deficient as ours is, but cutting any green crop off jacks with our N/P/K balance.

Hedgerow, or anyone else, have you ever fed almost straight silage to cattle? If so how far can you go without having problems? Usually feed silage to stretch the hay, but I had very little.

I like the way you use a small engine to crank a big engine. People see those big 2 cylinder diesels
This is mixture of old and new ploughing

Love Buckin but I don't think he's plowing any fields!

Have a minimum of 5# of dry roughage (hay, straw, dry cornstalks) & the rest corn silage.

1# of dry matter per 100# of body weight max for 3rd stage cows. They'll get fat in a hurry with more.

I’ve got a lot of cows that need to put on weight. It is just now starting to green up. Will there be issues with their rumons? I’ve never counted on my feed to be mostly silage. Just trying to cover as many bases as I can!
