30 mamas at mine and about 10 at dads, two bulls and about 15 head of younger stuff as well between the two places. Got a few older cows to cull yet, just waiting to get calves off and some weight back on them, so they will probably go around May. Got some good blood line going on now and getting gentle animals was a main goal. I will start keeping heifers and try to rebuild to around 65 to 70 mamas within the next 4 years.

I've got a few thin cows. I'm gonna move them into the heifer pasture and let them take a year off.

How old? I used to keep around 30 cows. Dropped down to a dozen now but never gave them any separation. They always calves well for me. Occasionally one or 3 miss a year but they always came around. Only time I have much trouble with them thin is when they got old on me.

Just curious. I don’t know a ton about cows just had them my whole life. Certainly not an expert

5 or 6 years old. The ones I'm talking about had a calf early in the fall. Lost weight nursing the calf over the winter.

Dad went to a sale today looking for some bred cows, he didn’t buy any; which isn’t unusual for him to attend an auction & not buy anything (cattle or equipment)..

These were all supposed to calve around late March.

Once I get everything settled down, I am planning on working for a vaccination schedule for them. Full parasite and 7 way with pinkeye. Needed to be done for some time, but when they are at my house I should be able to work them better.

We do it in the spring. Probably should do it in the fall too.

Not that I was gonna buy it but if I was super rich. Yeah I’d have the guy build me one. Had some restored 1066s very cool guy. Does nice work. Watched his crew work while we all shot the breeze. Good crew in there

Cool. I believe my uncle has an 806 with front wheel assist or at least he used to. His had a canopy on it. He has a couple 706’s, a 1066 with a cab & he just bought an 826.

Anyone else have flowers on their fruit trees. Plums and peaches are starting to flower here. I think it might be too soon. It has been a mild winter, I think they are jumping the gun.
Azaleas are blooming. Bud break is going to be early this year. My blueberries are blooming. Hopefully no heavy frost like last year. It killed most of them.

You are further south than I am, so hopefully neither of us gets a frost. My blueberries haven't started yet. Bradford pear is in full bloom here, pretty, but invasive. This is the time of year for culling them. Damn things sucker though.
