There is very little green about any green energy. Input costs vs. gains are so unequal that the only way projects happen is by the government stealing from the taxpayers to subsidize the projects. Case in point, there is a line of these about 15 miles north of the house running through farm land. Big government paid over half the cost for these and the local utility company increased our rates to offset the cost on their side. My understanding is that it requires 100 years to pay for one of these based off their output, but they only have a 50 year life span. Recycle costs are so prohibitive on the blades that they bury them in the sand in the desert when they are disposed of.
But it feels good to put them up. Allows for virtue signaling. Besides, there are too many birds anyway. Lol. Seems they kill Condor's too, as well as eagles. Tip speed is pretty high on those things.

Stupid story, but I fix gas stations, and one of my customers was a grocery store chain that had gas stations in the parking lot. One day the girl in the kiosk was complaining how windy it was. I told her that's because the fans are on. The light bulb lit up, and she said, so that's what those are? Was hard keeping a straight face when I asked her if it is always windy when they are on. Lol

She sounds like the type that would tell us we don't need to raise animals for meat. Just go the the grocery store and buy it like they do. My kids have no problem eating the cows we raise, deer shot on the place, or the fish I catch.

Sounds like you are doing it right. My wife's love for animals prevents food animals on the farm. She gets attached. Last thing I need is pet cows. So I buy from a local farmer, and she is fine with that. She just won't eat something she names, and she names everything. Lol

My wife has to name all of them. They still go into the freezer. Lol

yes the recycling part is a problem there’s farmers over here who put in acres too solar farms 15 - 20 yrs ago
when it was in early stages and grants and payments where good but now there getting to be less efficient
the cost for recycling is pricey

wind turbines seem too be frightening numbers as well I’ve heard on big turbines the cost 1.2 million
the turbine company pays half and landowners pay half + government subsidies
don’t know how long the return on your investment pays off

We ran 128 cow/calf’s pairs & 8 bulls thru the chute today @ my buddy Chase’s. Things went relatively well until we tried getting the 41 heifers out of there lot to move…

The soup topped my boots in a couple spots & they were less than cooperative but we got all but one.

On the third trip around the lot a different fella took my previous path & realized why I was lagging behind on my previous 2 treks, fortunately he was wearing gloves because he stumbled & was chit up to his elbows & it topped his boots also.

Tomorrow we will run another 127 pair & 8 more bulls thru. Then if the weather cooperates we will run the heifers they on Wednesday.

We used to do hundreds a week like that when I worked on a big farm in Grassy Cove. I don't miss it.

Priced 3-1-2 fertilizer this morning. Looking at $650 a ton and I can get grazon added at 13.50 an acre. Going to be writing a big check in a couple of weeks the way it looks.
Same here. I’m going to have to buy a ton this week or next. Did some burning yesterday. The limbs and debris piles up.

Be 9 or 10 tons this spring. Looks like I may be off work today. Trying to decide if I will spread today. Depends on rain situation.

Long day. After fertilizer we culled the last of the cows at dads. 8 more to my house and 6 to market. All that is left at his place is 2 bulls, one older cow we are going to see if will put on some weight, and less than a dozen small calves we will sort Sunday.

Anyone else have flowers on their fruit trees. Plums and peaches are starting to flower here. I think it might be too soon. It has been a mild winter, I think they are jumping the gun.
Blueberries, peaches, and pears are blooming. May have a frost Tuesday.

I have the same concerns. Might do some impromptu covering. Hate to lose all that fruit. Will watch the temps to see if the forecast changes for the better. Good luck with yours.

You too. I’m going to try something different. Hook up a couple of heat lamps and a fan to blow on the larger bushes. And cover my young ones. When I cover my large ones, it knocks off too many blooms.

Mine are not full size yet, so still able to throw a sheet over them. Blueberries and strawberries are easy. I am still rooting for a warm up. None of my trees are at the top or bottom of the south facing hill. Might black plastic the ground around them and have a solar warmup of the ground. I hate an early bloom and late frost. Ugh!

Chase left for vacation on Thursday, Friday a front tire on the 6110 blew out while haying & the bulls got to fighting & torn the chit out of some gates. Today I set the bale trailer off & the jack broke off then the cows sucked a well dry so I hooked on to the water wagon & am lucky I didn’t lose the tank; the mounting bolts broke or they may not of even been an y there to start with. He always picks the right time to leave…

Just sent a get F'ed email to the solar idiots. Did some looking at the company and how they do business and their social media. Told them to never contact me or my parents again. Must be nice to drive around in $100,000+ electric cars you get from government payouts and God only knows what your house costs all the while you run down the people who use tractors and trucks that use diesel to put food on your table.
