It might not change very quick, I think there is going to be a shift of more people sourcing local meat. Buying halves and quarters from farmers directly then paying processing. Some of my family have a standing spot on the schedule, they send a cow in every month or so.Anybody called around to get a beef processed? All around here we are looking at next year as the earliest for a slot. Some places aren't even giving estimates for then. This is craziness.

It is unusual for a wait for more than a month for this area. With major processing plants closing down people have been hitting us up wanting to buy. Haven't really wanted to have to go that route because if someone backs out I don't have the storage space in my freezer for that much extra. If I can get a shop up I may have to get an extra freezer and do more of this. I have two slots at the place I normally use for February 5.I have three appointments to have beef done in January. Never has been easy to work one in, but its getting tougher.
Here it is if you go the selling from farm route you need to have freezers and room inspected to get a license. But well worth it. Hamburger here was $6.49 yesterday at a local meat shop. Was closer to $4 a few weeks ago.It is unusual for a wait for more than a month for this area. With major processing plants closing down people have been hitting us up wanting to buy. I have a local butcher shop(no kill floor) who will process halves you bring them. Looks like we may be killing and hanging one up here. Wouldn't be the first time.Anybody called around to get a beef processed? All around here we are looking at next year as the earliest for a slot. Some places aren't even giving estimates for then. RainingI laid down over 30 acres yesterday. Now the weather guessers have moved the rain closer.....
Just my luck.
Raininghere.
Worked some calves today. Glad I don't have to worry about worms or blackleg. Got pricked a couple of times when they jerked a bit.
Had to do some quick reading on that. Causes rapid heartbeat and no cure. You have to sign off it looks like just to get it from a vet. If I have to use this I"ll just have the vet take care of it. I'm too clumsy at times.Be glad it wasn't Micotil. That stuff is dangerous to humans.
