Got the red tractor back from the shop last night! (1066 turbo)

New clutch, new gear (3rd I think), and a new T/A. $5,200 (ouch!)

Damn! At least you should be good for quite a bit. Can't buy a tractor in that good of shape for that.

Got to rip the rear axle out of my VAC tonight. Needs diff bearings and brake shafts sleeved and sealed.

Cheap horsepower, even with the repair bill. The engine is still tight and doesn't blowby or smoke, and the turbo is good, so knock on wood, she should take good care of us for a long time.

At least it isn't soy beans like my neighbor. He's calling it quits. This shiney new rig belongs to his new renter.

Hasn't sold off his equipment so who knows what the future brings.

First 4 outside rows was gone. 2 5 gallon buckets would have held the corn that was left. Ended up with 10 loads. Put 8 in the crib and left two wagons loaded. We grind it in a hammer mill.

Nice Deere.

That was made when Deere made good tractors. Pushing 4000 hours now. Loved the 55 series. Had a 2555 that I wish I had back. The 5520 we have now is half the tractor. Turbo make good power just not on a tractor.

I did. Tractor was having hydraulic issues and lost prime before I could get the bale out. It’s stuck good.

But in reverse you wouldn't get to have the satisfaction of spotting the Yellow Jacket nest just about a butt pucker moment before you hit it?
Thankfully, I never hit one way back when I was running an old Cub Cadet with a belly mower.
But I have found my share of 'em with a push mower.

My answer to them is a water bottle and about two oz of gasoline.
Pour the two ounces of gasoline into the bottle and Wait
till about an hour before daylight when the ground/dew is coolest and the bastids are calmed down.
Now you just poke the (uncapped of course) neck of the bottle into the nest and leave it standing there.
None of this setting a fire nonsense!!
(dumb, dangerous & self-defeating stunt)
(we don't need a brush fire added to the day)
Just leave it there and let that small amount of fuel do its job.
Burning it just burns the off the "poison" and lets many of them live.

By leaving the bottle there you block the hole and the fumes permeate the nest thus killing ALL of the occupants.
Leaving the bottle (and fumes) in the hole also means the stragglers that were away get killed (by the fumes) when they come home and crawl around the hole, trying to get in.
Just leave the bottle in the hole and over 4~5 days they all return and die.
Just watch for any late comers who may have not gotten a good whiff of fumes and are a bit groggy but still mean!

Even if you use store bought bug killer, the pre-dawn bottle method is the way to go.
