Saws are designed and made with price as one of the factors in mind to compete alongside other makers for the market share. Ok...lets dump the price point and come up with a saw that is built without compromise !
Im not talking of a "Bling Thing" all Gold and sparkle.....no...things that you would make if money was not the issue. The companies do a brilliant job overall of producing something within constraints in my opinion so lest have some thoughts and concepts outside all that. I think the cc isn't a issue here as lets face it ...we dont want a 100 lb 40cc saw or a 100lb 120cc saw, so lightness with strength is the thing in all size saws.
What have ya got ?

How about using some of the composite materials like they use in F1 and aircraft to produce the case and covers. There could be inserts for fixings that are tougher than the drilled and taped ones in mag alloy cases. Kevlar reinforced tanks to help with puncture.... Multi stage air filtering .

Wish stihl would spend the extra $ and make their handles aluminum... I hate the cheap feel of the plastic.

carbon kevlar "plastics" and covers, titanium fasteners (captured as mentioned before) would greatly help power to weight ratio..... built into a nice compact unit...

Built in rubber grips on the tank handle to even further reduce vibrations and increase grip. Very easy simple teardown for full rebuild in minutes. Chains that stay Sharp and are supper easy to sharpen. Idiot presence kill mode so idiots can't ruin saws.

Already been done, they just won't let us have it! (insert swear word here)

I would like to see a hole saw out of composites and the way the case is constructed for the bearings and seals changed . The splitting apart to change cranks/bearings could be looked onto so that didn't have to happen. Full "Modular" construction of major components that undo in hole chunks without the need to strip most of the saw apart to get to a small part or a covered up component would be helpful.
